In a nutshell

As the Finance Manager, you'll act as the primary interface between Finance, Product and Credit Risk teams. You'll provide support to the product teams and a high degree of financial analysis and challenge, ensuring the preparation of reliable and timely financial plans to support business planning, pricing decisions, business cases and ad hoc papers.

What you need to do
  • You'll represent Finance at the Product Management Committees for relevant Product areas, will be responsible for providing financial support and challenge on current and future business performance and plants. Responsibility will include month end P&L reviews, NPV preparation and analysis, KPI analysis, income patterns, new product development / investment appraisals and preparation of relevant PMC papers.
  • Co-ordinate and process information from various sources to ensure the delivery of all aspects of the annual planning cycle and regular forecasting processes. In addition, drive the understanding of the ongoing risks and opportunities in the product and how this impacts the full gear out turn projections. Work across all stakeholders to understand and minimise ambiguity in future product performance. Use judgment and expertise to set challenging get achievable budgets and forecasts within the context of wider Bank strategy.
  • Challenge assumptions through analysis of trends and other MI available combine with judgment and product expertise to deliver realistic, challenging, and balanced forecasts and budgets.
  • Develop models and best practice to assist the business in measuring impact of changes to the budgeted balance sheet and P&L positions. Working with other finance teams, update, and reforecast changes to products because of margin, commission, or cost changes to support the forecasting and planning processes.
  • Regulatory Forecasting
  • Using output from existing models and developing new models, provide product managers with financial information to assist in strategic or pricing decisions and any business cases. Review and provide challenge to these business cases/pricing decisions ensuring delivery of financial results set out within the Banks wider strategy.
  • Model Development - initially the role will focus on completing a re-build of the Cards models to be more data driven; less Excel driven. Once the models are rebuilt the focus will move back to Business Partnering while ensuring that the models evolve to meet Business needs, as and when required.
  • Act as the primary point of contact within Finance for your product area. You'll be responsible for ensuring that the business developments are shared with appropriate finance colleagues and are financially robust.

What you need to know and show
  • A Qualified Accountant of 3+ years' experience with practical experience of financial reporting and management accounting or have strong financial modelling qualifications and commercial experience. A prior knowledge of financial services Cards would be advantageous.
  • Previous experience of model development and strong PC skills e.g., SAS, Python, Power BI, Power Query, as an initial key deliverable for the role holder will be to deliver the rebuild of the Cards models.
  • Well organised and able to prioritise workload in line with tight deadlines and work effectively under pressure.
  • Customer focused and an excellent team player, you'll be able to demonstrate strong relationship management skills with an ability to work closely with others to deliver results.
  • Excellent written communication and an ability to communication effectively across all levels of the organisation e.g., able to translate complex/technical issues to meet the audience's competency level.
