We have an opportunity for an Associate Director with your experience to join on a fixed term (full time) contract from September 2021 to July 2022 (with an option to extend by a further 2 months) to lead our European Group Treasury Capital team in our Financial Management Group.

You would lead the Group Treasury Capital team in region, who are focused on management of prudential capital requirements for regulated entities (including a European Bank and a UK and European Investment Firm), including responsibility for delivery of capital plans (ICAAPs, ICARAs), capital management and optimisation initiatives, support for Macquarie's business divisions operating through these entities and the maintenance of capital management frameworks.

Leading a small, specialised team, this role will provide you with the opportunity to be exposed to the broad exposure activities of Macquarie divisions operating in the region and to build close relationships with these businesses and other support functions.

You will lead a small team of five professionals including providing oversight, technical guidance and development opportunities for the team. You will provide guidance to businesses, legal entity stakeholders/senior management and the team on capital management implications from European, UK and Irish Prudential rules.

You will also remain abreast of developments in European prudential standards and assess the forward-looking implications for the EMEA entities based on these developments; review business proposals in the region to help identify and address the impact on capital requirements for local entities and liaise within the team and other support functions to ensure these are considered for regulatory reporting and capital management purposes; overseeing and managing the team's production and coordination of the ICAAP and ICARA documents including project planning and managing stakeholders across a wide variety of teams within Macquarie; supporting in the capital management of Macquarie's EMEA regulated entities, including maintenance of capital management framework documentation, monitoring developments in UK and European prudential standards, impact analysis and implementation of regulatory change and other regulatory change initiatives; and oversee the team in their BAU capital management activities, including monitoring and oversight of capital adequacy of regulated entities, including committee and Board reporting with a view to lead committee and Board discussions.

To be successful in this role, you will have demonstrated the ability to lead a team with strong relationship management skills and an ability to interface with a broad cross-section of individuals. You will also have the confidence, drive and problem-solving skills to innovate and deliver core team outcomes.

You will also:
  • have expert knowledge on the current EU/international prudential regime, including Basel, Capital Requirements Directives (CRD) / Capital Requirements Regulation (CRR), and the Pillar 2 / Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) framework
  • have over 10 years' experience within treasury, prudential risk, or regulatory disciplines
  • have a deep understanding of trading businesses, their core products and associated capital requirements (counterparty credit risk, market risk in particular)
  • have experience with production of ICAAPs under the European regime, and ideally an understanding of the investment firm ICARA regime
  • persuasive communication, interpersonal and ability to build relationships at all levels
  • be able to determine priorities and able to drive team results within deadlines, while managing stakeholder expectations and communications accordingly
  • have a pragmatic, commercial approach to capital management whilst achieving desired outcomes and managing a wide portfolio of entities, rules and deliverables.
