Company Background

Our client is one of Australia’s most recognised and loved Arts' institutions who have been around for over 100 years and counting. With a loyal and passionate supporter base, they have continued to flourish thanks to increased philanthropic activity and continued Government support.

From the top down, the organisation promotes a family-friendly environment and flexible working conditions. There are also frequent industry benefits such as free tickets and invitations to behind the scenes events.

The Role

As Finance Manager, you report through to the CFO (who wears a double hat as COO). This means there will be further opportunities to expand the role to take on more strategic, and planning responsibilities as the role expands and develops. In the meanwhile the role will:

  • Manage a settled and productive finance team of two who manage the receivables, payables and GL maintenance activities
  • Take ownership of the Management reporting through to the CFO, including monthly and quarterly reporting and accompanying analysis
  • Assist with the budgeting and forecasting
  • Act as the main contact point for the Auditors
  • Have ownership of all compliance work such as taxes, and ensuring Government requirements are met for continued funding
  • Drive a number of projects such as overhauling the fixed assets register, streamlining the management reporting suite and investigating a Purchase Order system

Your Background

To be considered for this role, first and foremost, you will need a love for the Arts! It’s a creative industry and you will need to be comfortable to be surrounded by a whole range of big, passionate and quirky personalities. On the skills side you will need:

  • Have ideally worked in a externally funded environment (i.e. not through direct sales)
  • Have managed a small team
  • Have all-round accounting experience
  • CA / CPA (or similar qualified)

And of course, a real get-up-and-go personality that loves to drive change and get things done.
