Department Description

This role is within the Risk function as part of Allica's Second Line of Defence

Role Description

To undertake credit risk due diligence on prospective portfolio acquisitions and forward flow arrangements, to include credit policy and guidelines assessment, portfolio analysis, assessment of end to end credit journey from inception to repayment/recovery, underwriting process and protocols, credit risk framework approach, in life monitoring and control, assurance arrangements, individual loan assessments to corroborate overall approach to -
  • Undertake an assessment of the operational risks involved in these transactions
  • Undertake an assessment of data flows so that PD/LGD and EAD are ingested into the Bank's systems easily
  • Assessment of impact on the Bank's approach to IFRS 9
  • To make a recommendation to the Head of Partnerships and CRO on any additional controls/changes to risk appetite/credit policy/guidelines that may be required
  • Make a recommendation to the Head of Partnerships and CRO on the acceptability of the proposed transaction from a risk perspective
  • Once the transaction is live, to provide the Head of Partnerships, CRO, Exco and Board with a comprehensive view of the Bank's credit risk profile relating to these through data analysis and creation of Management Information and reports, including trend analysis and development of Key Risk Indicators
  • Integrate the individual transaction reporting with the Bank's overall view of credit risk
  • Devise and undertake credit risk assurance on forward flow arrangements
  • Devise and undertake operational risk assurance on forward flow arrangements


Principle Accountabilities
  • Assessing credit risk and operational risk profiles on potential portfolio acquisitions and forward flow arrangements.
  • Making recommendations to senior management/Exco on the acceptability of the proposed transaction from a risk perspective
  • To monitor and report the credit risk and operational risk Monitoring and development of credit risk MI and portfolio reporting
  • Contribute to the Bank's forecasting of credit risk to include impairments under IFRS9, Probability of Default, Loss Given Default, Exposure at Default and Expected Loss
  • Develop and monitor Key Risk Indicators and Early Warning Indicators on the respective portfolios
  • Assurance of the credit and operational risk relating to forward flow arrangements


Personal Attributes & Experience
  • Good understanding of credit risk in the SME sector with experience of Commercial lending, particularly Commercial Mortgages for investment/owner-occupied and working capital related facilities. Experience of Asset Finance, Invoice Finance and other credit asset classes would be beneficial
  • Understanding of PD LGD and EAD in an SME portfolio on a standardised Basel approach
  • Well versed in credit risk portfolio analysis and related report creation
  • Understanding of credit risk policies and related appetite statements
  • Clear and concise report writing skills and ability to communicate clearly using a variety of media.
  • Capability in use of Microsoft Office suite with particular focus on Excel and PowerPoint
  • Strong stakeholder management
  • Ability to self-start, prioritise objectives and to work to tight timescales
  • Understanding of operational risk approach including RSCA's and controls assessments
