Financial Accountant - Worksop

Elevation Recruitment Group are currently partnering with a successful and well known UK manufacturing business to recruit a Financial Accountant. The finance team are based at the Worksop shared service centre, however you will have the opportunity to work from home 2 days each week.

In this role you will be responsible for producing monthly primary financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) and related board report sections in line with Group and accounting standards, manage the financial internal control environment and prepare budgets & forecast for the primary financial statements and fixed costs.

The main responsibilities will include:

- Reconcile the trial balance and post journals to ensure the month end reports are in line with accounting standards
- Produce primary financial statements to submit to Group
- Prepare the month end commentary for the balance sheet, cash flow and fixed costs
- Monitor the established internal financial control environment to ensure that current standards are maintained
- Produce fixed cost analysis and supporting commentary to provide insight on key trends and propose corrective actions
- Monitor capital spend against budget / forecast to ensure spend is within agreed limits
- Maintain the Fixed Assets register ensuring all items are clearly identified, allocated to relevant projects and reconciled to the trial balance
- Prepare supporting schedules for audit purposes and deal with queries from both internal and external audit teams
- Review and approve monthly VAT return submissions and prepare supporting schedule for annual corporation tax calculations

Key Skills / Experience:

- Part-Qualified or recently qualified Accountant
- Finance system management and internal control
- Leading a team / managing people
- Knowledge of accounting standards
- Basic knowledge of corporation tax
- Strong communication skills - finance and non-finance
