This Government agency is creating a sustainable infrastructure legacy for NSW through expert advice, priority project delivery, oversight of the state's infrastructure pipeline and place management. They are currently recruiting a Project Finance Manager on a 1 year contract to join their team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a new system and providing project accounting, forecasting and reporting on major infrastructure projects.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Work closely with various NSW Government departments to develop and implement new systems and processes for managing project finance across the portfolio of Capital projects.
  • Oversee and manage project finance, implement and maintain financial systems and processes on all capital projects and provide expert advice to project teams to ensure project based financial activities comply with internal control, government policy and legislative requirements.
  • Manage the budgeting and forecasting process including year and multi-year budgets with project teams ensuring alignment to approved project budgets, strategic targets and stakeholder expectations.
  • Prepare detailed and accurate financial information including expenditure, cost control and cash flow to facilitate the planning and management of financially sound projects that deliver on agreed objectives.
  • Monitor, review, analyse and report on project expenditure, budget and income variations and implement best practice monitoring processes to support effective project management.
  • Partner and engage with Project teams to develop a detailed understanding of the project(s) to ensure the optimal provision of project accounting advice and support to the teams.
  • Develop and carry out ongoing training and mentoring with project teams to improve capability and inspire a passion for financial accuracy and risk awareness.

Essential Requirements
  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting and CPA/CA qualifications and membership
  • Previous experience within the construction industry essential
  • Extensive experience with project budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, cash flow preparation, business case development and management in a capital project related environment
  • Experience in analysing numbers, providing insight, formulating reports and presentations in a succinct manner for senior management
  • Knowledge of the Australian Accounting Standards and concepts
