This role will be office-based at our Saint-Petersburg officein Russia ("Thermo Fisher Scientific" JSC).

Position Summary:

The Financial & Accounting Manager, St. Petersburg Russia is the lead position who oversees all accounting and financial operations including all financial reporting and analysis for Laboratory Plastics Essentials (LPE) Russia within the LSG Life Sciences Group. The position is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of internal controls and compliance with internal and external guidelines and standards to support and deliver accurate & timely accounting of the St. Petersburg entity.

This role will work closely with the operational team of St. Petersburg Russia and supports revenue for all business units under the St. Petersburg Legal Entity. The position holder will report to the Director Finance, LPE as well as dotted line to the General Director St. Petersburg and will be a key member of the LPE Finance team.

Delivery of the objectives will be achieved through deployment and introduction of state-of-the-art working practices and innovative, value adding finance processes & tools. These activities will be carried out in accordance with current US GAAP, statutory, company financial standards as well as our 4i Values.

Success in this role will be demonstrated through on time and in full financial delivery of the entities financials and provide business partnering support to the operation team to hit our growth & profitability targets and improve our controls and compliance performance for our customers, our company and ultimately the patients we serve.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and improve the month-end and quarter-end close and reporting process. Oversee the timely, accurate and complete monthly and quarterly financial closures in order to fulfill local and corporate reporting requirements.
  • Russian legal responsibility for St. Petersburg entity will be shared with Chief Accountant.
  • Review and enhance account reconciliations, journal entries, understand variance analysis and ensure accounting activities are well supported, documented and audit ready. Lead deployment of Blackline at the St. Petersburg site.
  • Accountable for the General ledger to ensure accuracy, timeliness, consistency, and completeness
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve internal processes to ensure sufficient support for changing business dynamics; meet with business partners, understand needs and develop execution plans for improvement
  • Key finance point of contact on LSG E1 Integration project
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial analysis, such as year over year variances, actual to budget/forecast, and trend for balance sheet and income statement accounts
  • Manage accounting functions, including General Ledger Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Administration
  • Oversees team responsible for internal and external audits
  • Hire, manage, coach, strengthen and develop the finance & accounting team to enable professional and technical growth as well as talent retention
  • Implement controls that are in adherence with SOX and US GAAP
  • Build strong organizational alliances and work to proactively understand and mitigate risk, as well as capture opportunities, provide value-added analytical support to facilitate strategic decisions for senior management.
  • Development and execution of the AOP with complete alignment with the divisional partners.
  • Promote a culture of personal responsibility/accountability and open communications.
  • Completes other projects and ad hoc analyses as needed by the stakeholders

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:
  • Candidate will demonstrate proficiency in the following areas: financial reporting, internal control, forecasting, analysis, and technical accounting knowledge.

Education/ Experience:
  • Bachelor Degree in Finance / Accounting
  • CPA / Advanced Qualification Preferred (MBA, or MS)
  • 5-10 years of relevant work experience
