The Opportunity:

We're looking for an enthusiastic, results-driven candidate to serve as a hands-on Program Manager, Financial Planning to join our entrepreneurial team. This person will work with internal partners in product management, technology, design, marketing, operations, service, and sales to drive initiatives forward. In addition to championing Scaled Agile planning and build processes amongst our product management team and software development squads, this role will support strong go-to-market processes and run high profile, complex projects across Morningstar's financial planning software business.

You'll have a strong background in program/project management, Agile product development and process improvement. Experience in planning, managing and implementing concurrent complex strategic projects across cross-functional teams using hybrid project management practices is required. The ability to communicate clearly at all levels, form strong relationships with team members and business partners, and proactively identify and control risks and dependencies will be important to your success. Exposure to financial advisers and/or advice technology will be beneficial.

This role reports to the Director of Financial Planning Products, Australia.

What you'll do:
  • Lead Program Management for Morningstar's Australian financial planning product lines
  • Directly lead multiple initiatives concurrently including planning, scheduling and delivery, working with delivery teams and to ensure that project goals are met
  • Communicate regular program and project level updates across all stakeholder groups
  • Take steps to ensure excellence in go-to-market processes and client communications around key product releases and enhancements
  • Identify and handle dependencies between multiple teams throughout the organisation
  • Coach scrum masters, agile teams and other team members to identify and solve project issues effectively
  • Identify, monitor and mitigate project risks
  • Lead program reviews with business partners to report on and facilitate conversations regarding KPI status, progress, resources, and risks
  • Establish and maintain trusted relationships with product managers, designers, technology teams, and business partners
  • Embrace Scaled Agile methodology and serve as Agile coach to product development teams
  • Support business operations as needed
  • Support go-to-market teams to ensure they are armed with the latest project/program updates and are able to effectively manage client expectations
  • Perform other duties as required


What we'd expect you'd have on day 1:
  • 5+ years of experience working on complex project and/or programs
  • A proven track record of successful project or program delivery in an agile environment.
  • Relevant qualifications and/or training completed
  • Experience configuring Atlassian JIRA, JIRA Align and/or Confluence
  • Proven ability to lead a cross-functional team
  • Ability to work through differing opinions while contributing consistently and positively in a dynamic, high-paced, and often unpredictable work environment
  • Effective in promoting a collaborative environment
  • Solid leadership, time management, facilitation, and interpersonal skills

What you need to enjoy and be good at for this role:

Other things that would be useful to have, but not necessary:
  • Prior experience working with financial advisers or advice technology.
  • Certifications in Product Management / Product Development.
  • Other relevant formal qualifications.
