Financial Planning and Control Analyst - Project Accountant

Working in the FP&A team, this role will support with a specific business project. You will have the opportunity to play a key role in generating insight and management of project activities. This is a 12 month contract opportunity.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial and Commercial Management:

  • Manage and maintain capital expenditure project cost models, ensuring
  • All newly approved costs are added to the cost model real time
  • All costs associated with approved Change Request are recorded in the cost model
  • Continuously review existing costs to ensure project forecasts are accurate and up to date
  • Complete period end process by verifying actual payments received against forecast
  • Calculate project accruals each period end
  • Complete periodic review of open purchase orders
  • Monitor contractor end dates ensuring renewal process is triggered in a timely fashion
  • Support Internal and External Audits on project financials
  • Attend monthly meetings with PMO Lead and Programme Director to discuss financial status
  • Responsibility for analysis of all ICT spend for both Capex and operating costs
  • Manage all financial administration requirements/queries, including centralised purchase orders, invoices and supplier account management
  • Ensure all statements of work and individual contracts are signed by appropriate Primark Director and counter signed by supplier and stored in centralised repository
  • Responsible for raising project purchase orders, ensuring that supporting documentation is uploaded to the Primark payment system
  • Responsible for reviewing supplier expenses in line with the latest Primark expenses policy
  • Produce financial inputs into the monthly Steering Group

Key Interactions and engagement with as part of role:

  • Report into the FP&A Manager
  • Liaise with the programme directors & release managers in terms of financial forecasts
  • Engage with the Programme Directors to understand the pipeline of Joiners, Movers and Leavers
  • Engage with Primark Internal Audit for periodic audits
  • Engage with our contractor preferred supplier regarding all individual contractors
  • Engage with Finance Support Team on supplier invoice queries

Essential knowledge, education, skills and experience:

  • Good understanding of project financials, with 2-3 years’ experience in project / PMO environment
  • Excellent Excel skills and ability to work with complex MS Excel models
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Able to trace through workings and detailed calculations to identify formula errors/miscalculations
  • Understand the importance controls and accuracy to adhere to the financial governance requirements
  • Ability to work individually and as part of a team
  • Capacity to build good relationships with key stakeholders at all levels
  • Good communication skills with the ability to write clear emails, minutes and documents
