Responsible for developing and managing global professional services category strategy within the Procurement group. Develops, implements, and communicates the direction of the team's procurement global processes and strategies to meet both the function’s and the corporation’s strategic plan.

Major Duties

  • Liaise with the Business and internal/external stakeholders to influence and develop strategy & solutions in support of internal goals and objectives. 
  • Leads and negotiates pricing and contracts for sourcing and ensures that the sourcing & procurement is cost-effective and provides value to the Corporation (including managed services contracts)
  • Improves corporate profitability and mitigates risks through establishment of competitively negotiated business awards and favorable contract terms and conditions.
  • Manages supplier relationships in conjunction with the Business to support Northern Trust’s overall objectives, standards and processes.
  • Utilize a third party tool (Beeline) and third party service to conduct RFP’s and streamline the go-to-market process.
  • Develop strategies to help accelerate savings and ensure compliance to Northern’s policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate and lead reporting improvements for labor and other Procurement functions, including, but not limited to BU dashboards, headcount, tenure, savings, spend, diversity.
  • Lead and support audits, SOC reporting, and owned vendor management responsibilities.
  • Develop relationships and be a strategic partner with BU leadership (including Finance) in order to support their strategy
  • Develop and lead presentations (including quarterly BU meetings, monthly BU CIO reviews) to leadership to drive communication and actions, and stay aligned to their goals

Knowledge/Skills

Possesses an advanced, in depth knowledge of supply chain management, procurement, sourcing, contract management and supplier management. Labor expertise preferred. Excellent project management, facilitation, negotiation, analytical, change management and interpersonal skills. Strategic as well as operational expertise is necessary to provide long term planning and execution in supply chain attributes to meet Corporation and business unit profitability, efficiency and risk mitigation goals. Technically adept with basic application software; proficient in MS Office Suites with advanced Excel skills. Experience with ERP system/ Peoplesoft and contract management systems. Demonstrated success in people management; superior leadership skills. Candidate must have strong attention to detail and be well organized.

Experience Required

Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Computer Science or related discipline preferred and at least 10 or more years experience in managing project teams, or an equivalent combination of education and work experiences. The preferred candidate will have an MBA or other advanced degree and a professional Procurement/ Supply Chain Management designation (e.g. CSCP, CPM, CCWP) is preferred.
