The cluster: Southern Europe Southern Europe is the largest cluster within the Consumer Health business in EMEA, with sales of around $900 million. With almost 500 employees, it includes the large countries of France, Spain and Italy, smaller markets of Portugal, Greece, Romania and Israel, and the Balkan states, incorporating a broad range of brands, business models and markets of different maturity levels and growth rates. Following our Consumer Health Transformation program, the Southern Europe cluster is leading the way in Agile ways of working, with a strong focus on digital and precision marketing, eCommerce, gross margin improvement initiatives and end-to-end profitability.
The role: Senior Finance Director, Consumer Health Southern Europe Based in our office in Madrid, Spain, we are currently recruiting a Senior Finance Director to lead the Finance organization for Consumer Health in Southern Europe. The Senior Finance Director will be responsible for providing financial leadership to the Consumer Health business in Southern Europe, coordinating delivery of the finance agenda and acting as a key business partner to the Area Managing Director and Leadership Team of the cluster by shaping the strategy formulation and execution, taking decisions and leading actions to maximize the value of our portfolio over the long term, and playing a key role to drive profitable growth. In doing so, the Finance Director will ensure alignment with all stakeholders across the organization to develop and implement these plans. The role includes full P&L management, optimizing allocation of resources and working capital, and balancing the financial risks and opportunities.
Key responsibilities:
• Financial and strategic business partner to the Southern Europe Area Managing Director, Southern Europe Leadership Team and their respective organizations, constructively challenging to identify value-creating growth opportunities
• Lead financial and strategic planning for Southern Europe, including annual business plan, periodic updates, latest thinking and long-range operating and financial plans
• Lead the financial performance reviews, providing an overview of performance to the regional and cluster leadership teams, including drivers of variance, insights into future impacts and actions to be taken
• Actively participate in commercial decision-making process, including target setting, resource allocation and appropriate trade-offs
• Have an external focus and an ability to establish connections with outside parties (such as finance leaders of key customers, peers in other companies)
• Sponsor or lead projects and processes outside the scope of Finance
• Participate in, influence and lead EMEA cross-sector Finance initiatives
• Ensure active participation of the Finance team in business meetings, brand planning exercises, Board reviews and strategic plans
• Lead with the highest standards of ethics and compliance with Johnson & Johnson's financial policies and processes, local regulations and business conduct procedures; drive similar accountability throughout the organization
• Ensure close collaboration between all finance groups (for example, Accounting, Tax, Global Services Finance, other sectors) while being the single finance point of contact for Southern Europe
• Be an inspirational leader who inspires people to reach their maximum potential, ensuring Credo values are demonstrated in all interactions of his or her team
• Attract, develop and retain top talent; coach and mentor key talent in EMEA Finance
• Create an atmosphere where diversity, equity and inclusion thrives
• Demonstrate curiosity, develop a perspective on business matters, influence outcomes and role-model an agile learning attitude (test, learn and adapt)
Qualifications
Requirements:
• University degree in Business/Finance/Economics with at least 15 years of relevant business experience; healthcare industry knowhow is a plus
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in leading teams, also in collaborating with senior management, business and functional leaders
• Proven financial and analytical skills, a track record of delivering on goals and targets, and strong business acumen coupled with curiosity and an appetite to learn
• Strong interpersonal skills, team player mentality and collaborative working style
• Excellent communication, influencing and framing skills
• Exemplary leadership skills in creating diverse, high performing teams and developing people to their highest potential
• Ability to lead transformation, navigate complexity and handle ambiguity in times of change
• Strong customer and consumer orientation; experience of the consumer health or FMCG sectors is desirable but not a pre-requisite
• Committed to quality, service and the highest standards of compliance
• Excellent English language skills; Spanish and/or French language is a plus
