Job Description

Overview:

The Strategic Accounting Infrastructure and Control (SAIC) Team is responsible for the analysis and execution of financial accounting architecture changes, supporting Financial Control, Asset Class Control, and Product Control. 

The SAIC Team is looking for a VP Project Manager to support the multi-year build out of our global, in-house Securities Processing Platform – FTPS, that supports settlement and accounting for Fixed Income instruments in North American. Products in scope are cash trades (buy/sell) and financing transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project manage the delivery of the key accounting application of the FTPS infrastructure. Plan and lead the working groups. 
  • Ensure that requirements are properly understood and that technology solutions are aligned with the overall program infrastructure.
  • Track progress on the requirements and the build. 
  • Help the SAIC team plan and prioritize requirements. Work with the Business Analyst to track the user stories. Attend grooming sessions, sprint planning sessions and daily scrums with the technology team.
  • Identify issues and risks such as changes to scope that may delay the build. Assess the impact on the timeline, communicate to the Technology team and escalate to the PMO as needed.
  • Create and maintain key project artefacts such as project plans, RAID logs and scorecards. 
  • Provide data analysis, visualize process flows, create operating procedures, and document strategic plans as needed to support the problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  • Track resources against plan. Understand the resources available and any changes vs what is required to meet the delivery. Understand future demand and get planning estimates.
  • Coordinate both the application testing and the integration of the application within the infrastructure. 
  • Help plan and implement the test approach, test execution and test validation. 
  • Liaise between Finance and the FTPS testing workstream. 
  • Track dependencies with other applications and ensure that testing timelines are aligned.
  • Present project status/progress update reports to key stakeholders and senior management. 
  • Create meeting materials, keep meeting minutes, and track follow-ups.
  • Partner with Financial Controllers, Asset Class Controllers and Product Controllers on the Finance operating model, the E2E workflows the strategic capabilities and the business objectives.
  • Work closely with the PMO and assist with overall program governance.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in project management, including developing project plans; managing scope, dependencies, risks, and timelines; and driving project teams through delivery.
  • Finance experience, ideally with an understanding of fixed income products and accounting.
  • A mindset versed in Agile, Lean Management and Process Improvement.
  • Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to quickly synthesize and summarize information, explain complex concepts in simple terms; and tell a story with facts and data.
  • Digital proficient and tech savvy; able to learn the technology platform that the application is being built on, and capable of making efficient use of a variety of PM tools.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; able to meet timelines and deliver quality results in a fast-paced and fast-changing environment.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, relationship building and influencing skills; with the ability to effectively communicate and partner with key stakeholders to help advance project agenda.
  • Demonstrates personal initiative, ownership, and accountability.
