Leveraging strong client relationships with key decision makers, our teams deliver exceptional results that confidently push the envelope with unexpected solutions to help our clients accomplish their objectives faster and keep them ahead of the curve.Not surprisingly, we embrace inventive thinkers, who make original contributions to the team.We put people first - our people and our clients' people, and our inclusive and welcoming culture celebrates diversity and individuality.Explore your next career move with Buck today!Senior Technical Actuary - Modelling & RiskThe Opportunity:We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Technical Actuary to join the Buck Consultants Retirement Practice.Reporting to Buck's Chief Architect, the Senior Actuary will be responsible for leading the development of our actuarial modelling and valuation solutions, including the enhancement and expansion of our in-house valuation tools.We are looking for a fully qualified Actuary with extensive pensions funding, valuation and de-risking experience gained in a similar consulting environment.This an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to join our growing organisation and develop their career in a technical actuarial leadership role over the next few years.With strategic and client management responsibilities; you will be capable of leading projects, while operating as Buck Consultants valuation toolkit - subject matter expert.He / She must have strong stakeholder management, collaborative skills and will be adept working with resources cross-office and crossline of business.The ideal candidate will be a keen technologist with a keen interest in technology development/evolution.ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Technical Actuary will;Providing support and guidance to the Chief Actuary on technical actuarial matters;
Sits on and provides support and guidance to the Actuarial Committee;
Sits on and provides support and guidance to the Economic Assumptions Group;
Sits on and provides support and guidance to the Accounting Assumptions Group;
Provides support as a subject matter expert on:
Longevity
PPF levy
Corporate accounting
Provides support and guidance to the wider Modelling team;
Provides support to the Buck KRC intranet;
Product ownership - develop, maintains, evolve and support Bucks in-house models and Actuarial Toolkit;
Responsibility for the implementation and use of third-party tools;
Pension schemes funding and risk managements;
Advising on pension scheme funding and valuations;
Providing strategic advice on investment actuarial factors;
Maximising the opportunities created by changes to legislation.QualificationsWhat we look for:Qualified Actuary, with 10 plus years' experience working in a Pensions / Retirement Consulting environment;
A background advising trustee and corporate clients on pensions strategy and cost / risk management is highly valued;
Strong understanding of pensions DB and DC pension schemes;
Strong technical experience with VBA, Excel, Access and / or other programming languages python, javascript, c# etc is highly desirable;
Excellent communication skills, a collaborative approach to work, with strong stakeholder and client management experience;
