An opportunity has arisen to join our team as an Assistant Accountant based at our Chichester Campus. This role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £21,298 - £23,275 per annum, plus a £7,000 Market Supplement.The Chichester College Group is the largest provider of further education in Sussex and is comprised of 5 Colleges based at Chichester, Crawley, Worthing, Haywards Heath and Brinsbury near Pulborough which is land-based. Through our Colleges, we educate and train around 25,000 full and part-time students every year and provide teaching excellence to meet the future needs of the regions' employers.As our Assistant Accountant, you will assist the Head of Financial Reporting with the delivery of timely and accurate financial reporting and planning. - Subsidised gym membership plus moreResponsibilities of ourAssistant Accountant include:- Assisting the Head of Financial Reporting in the preparation of the monthly management accounts and year-end statutory accounts as required
- Supporting the Head of Financial Reporting and Management Accountant in the annual budget and forecast processes including design of templates, production of guidance notes, support for budget holders, validation of financial information and aggregation of results
- Preparing the monthly management accounts and annual statutory accounts for the Student Union and liaising with the external auditors in relation to the annual audit
- Being the day to day contact and administrator for the Group's procurement and charge cards
- Providing local administrative and helpdesk support to users of the Group's financial and associated (interfacing) systems
- Being the day to day contact with the Unit 4 helpdesk in relation to escalation and resolution of queries and issues
- Being the day to day contact with the finance associated (interfacing) systems software providers in relation to escalation and resolution of queries and issues
- Reviewing, developing, testing and implementing improvements to the Group's financial and associated (interfacing) systems as directed by the Head of Financial Reporting
- Having line management responsibility for the Finance Systems Apprentice
- Performing quarterly fixed asset verification checks
- Providing training to Group's financial system users as and when required
- Assisting in the development of the Group's financial procedures
- Undertaking ad hoc assignments for the Head of Financial Reporting, as necessaryOur ideal Assistant Accountant should have the below skills and experience:- GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in Maths and English
- Recognised accountancy qualification; eg ACCA, CIMA, ACA or part qualified with additional experience
- Experience of financial reporting to tight deadlines
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
