As an Assistant Financial Accountant, you'll be integral to the UK Logistics Finance team, providing insight and analysis on performance, and the day to day transactional activities with the Finance Excellence Accounting team, supporting the financial close activities and reporting financial results.

So what will you be doing?

You will be working closely with various departments around Ocado, including the Commercial Finance Team, Customer Fulfilment Centre General Managers, as well as their operational teams and central Business Planning and Procurement teams.
  • A key member of the FinEx UK Logistics Finance team providing financial support to the operational teams and UK clients
  • Provide key business insight to the senior management teams and stakeholders
  • Own aspects of the periodic reporting, budgeting and forecasting of the financial performance, with the support of the wider Fulfilment Operations Finance team
  • Develop reports and analysis to give insight into operational cost base by key drivers
  • Examples of accountabilities will include:
    • Weekly VCR (Variable Cost Reports) reporting for CFCs
    • Distributing weekly 'board report' to ORL / Ocado summarising all sites performance
    • Contribute to CFC Ops period end process, including ownership of certain aspects
    • Communicating performance of the above areas to business partners in periodic review meetings
    • Balance Sheet reconciliations and ownership
    • Develop new spreadsheets and reports to ensure processes run more smoothly and to provide more time for value adding activities
    • Ad hoc reporting tasks when business partners request information
  • To evolve current ways of working and improve the financial processes

So what would we like to see?
  • Ideally you will be part qualified or passionate about starting a finance qualification
  • You may have AAT qualifications or recently completed a degree in Accounting / Finance (or other relevant subject)
  • Some experience working in a finance department ideally within management accounts
  • Good working knowledge of MS Excel
  • Good communication, prioritisation and planning skills
