As a Business Analyst Apprentice you will make a difference working within the Transformation & Efficiency Team which is responsible for collectively driving change and improvement within the organisation using a range of financial and non-financial tools. This includes value for money, organisational improvement, and performance management improvement.

As an apprentice you will be trained and receive supervision and guidance from your workplace supervisor. You will also have a workplace mentor to support you throughout your apprenticeship. This is a limited term contract for 18 months, where you will undertake a Level 4 in IS Business Analyst that involves block release training with a local provider.

What will you be doing?
  • You will be supported and trained in dealing with day-to-day problems and issues that are encountered to ensure the successful completion of projects.
  • The role will require you to learn to work within tight deadlines, needing to understand complex issues, managing competing demands and making sound decisions to enable practical and sensible solutions to be achieved.
  • In the role, you will be working in unfamiliar areas and different environments, requiring the ability to develop knowledge, skills and expertise to make recommendations and deliver effective solutions.
  • It will be essential that you develop good working relationships with project teams and manage differing expectations and perspectives in a way that meets both individual and wider corporate needs.
  • You will engage, establish develop and manage relationships with customers so that quality standards and business needs are met and contract terms are fulfilled, maximising cost effectiveness, quality service delivery and ensuring time scales and budgets are adhered to.
  • You will learn to take on the daily responsibility to support projects and improvement programmes in specialist service areas and support Council-wide initiatives to ensure that projects are completed on time, to budget and to required standards that wider agenda requirements are met e.g. Council initiatives, Government agenda requirements


Things we need you to know:

The apprenticeship requires you to attend block release attendance of 4 residential sessions, at Firebrand. The council will cover your travel expenses to the college. This will start in September.

The salary for this apprenticeship is set at Hay 12
To successfully complete the apprenticeship, you will be required you to complete an end point assessment that consists of an Portfolio of Evidence, Synoptic Project, Interview and Employer Reference.

All candidates that successfully reach the interview stages will be required to provide a 10 minute presentation as part of the recruitment process. Candidates who do not provide a presentation at interview will not process through the recruitment process.

What we need from you

  • You will hold an 'A level' in any subject or BTEC equivalent, along with GCSE A*-C grade (or Grade 4-9) or equivalent qualification in English and Maths or be willing to undertake and gain Functional Skills in English and Maths as part of the apprenticeship.
  • You must have the drive and willingness to learn new things and be committed to gaining your qualification.
  • You will need to have good communication skills, in order to provide excellent customer service and good attention to detail to ensure you produce accurate, error free work.
  • Good IT skills with an interest in ICT
