Your new role

The Claims Manager position will sit within the Finance and Operations Group provides a range of specific and shared services across the entirety of Invest NI.

These services include financial management, planning, legal services, management and processing of claims, business appraisal, reporting, the provision of IT services, risk management and statutory financial reporting.

The ability to provide efficient, professional and effective services is a critical component of our customer experience and an essential element of delivering economic development within Northern Ireland.

Reporting to the Heads of Offers & Claims and working alongside two other claims team managers, the post holder will be primarily responsible for the management of a team of staff tasked with the auditing of claims for payment of financial support offered to Invest NIs clients under various support packages.

Key Responsibilities The main duties of the post will be to:

  • To manage a team of people responsible for the effective auditing and processing of claims for financial assistance;
  • To assist in the development and implementation of best practice audit, risk and corporate governance practices;
  • To engage with key stakeholders, clients and internal staff, providing high quality advice and guidance in relation to the auditing and processing of claims for financial assistance;
  • To assist in identifying areas for developing and improving systems and processes to deliver efficiencies and enhance corporate governance;
  • To liaise with Internal Audit, the Northern Ireland Audit Office and other external regulatory bodies as required;
  • To assist in the delivery of high quality, accurate and timely financial information and reports to meet the needs of internal users;


What you'll need to succeedPersonnel Specification All applicants must, by the closing date for applications, be able to demonstrate the following: 1 A relevant accountancy qualification*; *Relevant Qualification: You must have completed the professional examinations and been awarded a qualification from one of the following bodies:
  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland;
  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Scotland;
  • The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales;
  • The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants;
  • The Chartered Association of Certified Accountants;
  • The Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy;
  • The Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland.


  • Experience in auditing financial transactions using best practice audit procedures and ensuring the maintenance of clear audit trails.#
  • Experience in reviewing the audit work of junior staff to ensure best practice audit and corporate governance procedures have been followed and that sufficient and appropriate audit evidence has been obtained.
  • Experience in the development of audit and corporate governance procedures to ensure effective control and best practice;
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and experience of liaising effectively with internal and external stakeholders on complex financial matters;
  • Experience of managing a team of staff and balancing competing priorities and utilising available resources to effectively facilitate the achievement of team and organizational objectives;
  • Recent experience in working as part of a project team delivering on a business improvement project
