This position is offered on a 12 -month fixed-term contract basis.Aviva Financial Operations (AFO) brings together the best capabilities to deliver finance solutions that support the growth of the Group and deliver financial information our customers and shareholders have confidence in. Within AFO the financial reporting team delivers Aviva's internal and external accounting and reporting deliveries.This role sits within the team based in York, the focus of this team is Aviva's life and pension business which has assets in excess of £250bn. As well as supporting the business day-to-day, the teams current priorities are to build best in class reporting processes and deliver a finance change programme that includes IFRS 17 which will help fuel Aviva's growth. We manage resource on a flexible basis and support our colleague's growth which means once settled you're likely to have opportunities to get involved with a range of projects and teams. We are looking for colleagues who are hard-working, curious, will drive simplicity and will help our team win.Role Responsibilities:Ownership and delivery of timely and insightful outputs to internal and external stakeholdersHigh-quality reporting with supporting analysis to identify underlying drivers and offer business insightOperation and enhancement of financial and operational controls with the ultimate aim of safeguarding both customer and shareholder interestsContinuous focus on process optimisation, simplicity and standardisationLeading investigations within reporting and acting as a key resource on projectsInfluencing partners and handling key relationships across FinanceWorking at all times within industry and professional standards, following CPD requirementsSkills and experience required:Qualified accountant with relevant post qualification experienceSound knowledge of financial reporting processes and architectureExcellent analytical skills and pro-active drive to identify and investigate variancesExperience in a financial reporting role within financial services would be advantageousExperience of working to tight deadlines in a demanding environmentGood leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with other areas of the businessStrong excel and analytical skillsKnowledge of IFRS 17, Solvency II and experience of preparing statutory accounts would also be beneficialWhat will you get for this role?Competitive Salary depending on skills, experience and qualificationsGenerous defined contribution pension schemeAnnual performance related bonus and pay reviewHoliday allowance of 29 days plus bank holidays and the option to buy/sell up to 5 additional daysUp to 40% discount for some Aviva products through "My Aviva Extras" plus discounts for Friends and Family.
