Key Responsibilities

Governance and quality assurance
  • Maintain oversight of the data structure of source and general ledger systems to ensure accurate reporting of financial information.
  • Document application of policies, procedures and workflow for assigned areas of responsibility.
  • Archive records to satisfy audit and statutory requirements.
  • Draft standards to improve quality as well as active contribution in improving and implementing global operation cycles, processes and workflows as well as the implemention of global policies and procedures.

Project work as assigned
  • Implementation of new systems and processes impacting the flow of financial information.
  • Implementation of IFRS17 with respect to IFRS ledger and local statutory reporting.

Reporting and Closing
  • Ensure that all IFRS, GAAP and Statutory closing and reporting tasks (e.g. annual report, reporting to regulatory authorities, statutory reporting) related to own area of responsibility are accurate and timely on a global basis.
  • Complete assigned postings, Journal Entries and Account reconciliations on a periodic basis.
  • Coordination, transfer and reconcilation of data from interfaces of front-end systems.
  • Ensure that the balance sheet has reconciliations for all positions.
  • Timely execution and fulfillment of internal and external reporting requirements with minimal errors.
  • Reconcile and settle intercompany transactions within the affiliated company group.
  • Take care of monthly legal entity close submission activities, including posting of accruals, deferred acquisition expenses and other accounting transactions.

Manage relationship with 3rd parties (auditors, biz units, tax authorities, public authorities, etc.)
  • Support the building of trust with external stakeholders inlcuding auditors and regulators.

Global P&L analysis and reviews
  • Assist internal clients (e.g. other departments) with reports, research and other activities.
  • Respond to audit and regulator queries on a timely basis.
  • Identify items or discussion or resolution

Key Requirements/Skills/Experience

Required experience:
  • Professional experience in reinsurance, P&C insurance and / or asset management
  • Proven understanding of standard accounting (GAAP & IFRS) for insurance and reinsurance
  • Project and team work in an international and dynamic environment

Required education:
  • Excellent tertiary qualification (ideally Master), preferably in Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Accounting or qualified by experience in related discipline
  • For UK / US: Recognized professional qualification related to Accounting (e.g. CPA, etc)

Technical skills:
  • Advanced Excel and Powerpoint skills to effectively analyse data and convey messages in a winning fashion
  • Understanding insurance financial statements and their performance measurement incl. Drivers
  • Legal and Regulatory Framework: Comprehensive knowledge of local GAAP, IAS / IFRS, Regulatory, Tax and other relevant requirements (such as Allianz Accounting policies) wrt reporting, compliance and declaration
  • Ability to handle complex processes (closing, reporting, finance operations) including understanding of data flows

General skills:
  • Analytical Thinking and Numeracy: Ablility to identify patterns and root causes in complex (e.g. ambiguous, from various sources) data and processes to rapidly distill key issues and provide insight in various situations
  • Problem Solving Ability: Ability to identify and initiate appropriate actions to remediate issues that can be abstract / ambiguous and follow through on their remediation
  • Communication and Presentation Skills: Ability to understand, elaborate and convey information clearly and effectively in respect to the audience / level of management (both verbal and in writing)
  • Project management: Ability to manage projects (milestone and task planning, managing resources, project controlling, monitoring, and reporting, moderation techniques) and to develop solutions while considering complex stakeholder structures and requirements
  • Languages: English & Local language
