We are currently looking for an experienced Investigator to join our global Shell Internal Audit and Investigations (SIAI) team.
In Shell Internal Audit and Investigations (SIAI) we work with all businesses in all parts of the world. We aim to deliver Independent, Courageous and Actionable insights from our audits and investigations and support learning and improvement at all levels of Shell. By doing so, we support sustainable delivery of Shell’s strategic goals: being a World Class Investment Case, upholding a strong Societal License to Operate and Thriving in the Energy Transition.
The Shell Global Helpline and SIAI’s integrity investigations unit is a cornerstone of Shell’s ethical culture, providing a trusted safe space for the raising of concerns and a dedicated team investigations team on potential Code of Conduct violations, which is relied upon respected and supported by leadership up to the Board level.
As an Investigator within the Audit and Investigations – Integrity team, you will plan and execute investigations into possible violations of the Shell Code of Conduct, Shell General Business Principles, Ethics and Compliance manual, company policies, and relevant laws. Investigations may involve, but are not limited to, fraud, theft, bribery and corruption, conflict of interest, anti-trust and harassment, and may involve employees, contract employees, vendors/suppliers and others
Key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting, i.e. planning and executing, investigations into possible violations of the Shell Code of Conduct, Shell General Business Principles, Ethics and Compliance manual, company policies, and relevant laws;
- Collection and analysis of evidence;
- Conducting (confrontational) subject and witness interviews;
- Writing high quality, fact-based, concise investigation reports, which should also meet the agreed format and standards;
- Identifying accounting and internal control weaknesses;
- Managing effectively a rage of stakeholders;
- Performing IT Forensic reviews and Data Analysis;
- Participating in audit activities as needed;
- Effective cooperation with Shell Ethics and Compliance, Shell Internal Audit, HR, Legal, and other functional stakeholders
- Proven track of experience in conducting corporate or criminal investigations into fraud or financial crime, or substantial experience as a qualified forensic accountant
- Experience in conducting (confrontational) subject and witness interviews and applying different interview techniques
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as accounting, forensics or law would be beneficial
- Excellent people relationship skills with an ability to deploy a range of engagement and interviewing styles and the credibility to engage with the most senior levels in our organisation.
- General knowledge in the application of data analytics and forensics in investigations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex and potentially impactful investigations of diverse types, from accounting fraud to bullying and harassment.
- The self-assurance to deliver difficult messages and questions, while at the same time role modelling the values of honesty, integrity, and respect for people
- Excellent writing skills and presentation skills, with the ability to concisely and clearly communicate complex issues to senior level.
- Fluent English; mastery of another language would be beneficial
- Subject to Covid 19, the role may require travelling; although this is variable depending on location and requirements to assist with investigations in other Regions and countries as required.
