Job Description

The Analyst should understand the role and responsibilities of the overall major expenditure profile and will be accountable for the role as capital controller and capital coordinators for the multiple line of business to deliver complex analytics.

The capital controllers/coordinators role includes reviewing and approving the Investment Proposals and provide the necessary guidelines to the project team by reviewing and understanding the business case and also advising the necessary changes required to ensure the financial data aligned for the business requirement.

The role is an onshore facing position where the analyst is required to interact with business to ensure accountability of the capital expenditures initiated by the line of business across the Organization. The individual in this role will work independently to accomplish his/her own assigned workload and collaboratively work with other members of major expenditure team based out in onshore and offshore.

In addition to above the Analyst may be called upon to provide guidance and insight related to complex financial transactions, budgeting, forecasting, planning, reporting, variance analysis, general ledger accounts, operating performance, profitability and industry/competitor outcomes and trends.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS -- Key Roles & Responsibilities

    The capital controllers/coordinators role includes reviewing and approving the Investment Proposals and provide the necessary guidelines to the project team by reviewing and understanding the business case and also advising the necessary changes required to ensure the financial data aligned for the business requirement.The Analyst may be called upon to contribute to or perform analysis of financial transactions, budgeting, forecasting, planning, reporting, variance analysis, general ledger accounts, operating performance, profitability and industry/competitor outcomes and trends. S/he may provide analytical support to activities such as audits, the fulfillment of adhoc requests and other special projects as assigned. In addition to adhoc requests and special project assignments, the Analyst might be called on to perform or assist in the analysis of: financial performance, e.g. actual revenues and expenses vs. forecasted/planned revenues and expensesGovernment requirements project support Analysis of key performance indicators for capital plan for BNYM as compared to its competitionProfitability analysis of products offered and customers served and establish relationship with onshore and offshore team to get into strategic initiatives.Comparative analytics, Variance analysis and Spend analysis report with commentaryVariances in connection with the close
LEVELING FACTORS

    The Analyst is accountable to deliver basic analytics and reporting support for their assigned corporate, line of business, sector, shared service, region, country, or legal entity team. S/he plays an integral role providing support for the development of period end commentary, variance analyses, and reporting; supporting KPI metrics tracking and scorecard reporting, providing capital planning, project planning, and budget management support. Based on the agreed upon schedule, provide accurate and timely capex reports and provide routine maintenance support for capex programs/projects i.e., the quarterly closing initiative, and as and when required.S/he may provide analytical support to activities such as audits, the fulfillment of ad hoc requests, and other special projects as assigned. In addition to ad hoc requests and special project assignments.Participate and lead the major expenditure planning tools upgrade in Automation, Standardization, Simplification, Streamlining & Process Improvement.Decision support for a prospective business opportunity or new product offerings and establish relationship with onshore and offshore team to get into strategic initiatives and periodic touchpoints with the onshore for the health check of the operations and level of delivery.The role will interact directly with onshore and offshore teams. This will involve the coordination and management of expectations and will require the ability to communicate task priorities whilst understanding the potential implication on others.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in a financial discipline such as accounting, finance, statistics, or economics
  • Five+ years of experience in budgeting, planning, forecasting, financial analysis and modeling. Business intelligence, marketing and pricing analytics a plus.
  • 7-10 years of experience in accounting or finance
  • Strong written and oral communications skills in English is required.
