This is a long term fixed term contract to cover maternity leave at a high-profile Higher Education institution in central London. You will be exposed to the entire organisation, multiple niche audits and be expected to hit the ground running.

Description

As the Internal Auditor, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing relevant input in determining the annual Audit Plan in conjunction with the Director of Internal Audit.
  • Simultaneously undertaking several large and / or complex audit assignments across the institution either individually or leading others (where relevant).

  • Ensuring all audit work is conducted in accordance with recognised professional audit standards using a variety of audit approaches (systems-based, risk-based, consultancy-based, etc.) as appropriate to the objectives and nature of the audit.

  • Developing recommendations for bringing activities and operations into compliance with University goals and objectives or promoting the economic, effective and efficient use of University resources and negotiating acceptance of these with clients.

    • Producing first draft of the internal audit report prior to review by the Director of Internal Audit.

  • Supporting the Director of Internal Audit in the overall management and direction of the service particularly in the areas of Quality Assurance and audit planning. Deputising for the Director of Internal Audit in the event of their absence. Assisting in the preparation of papers for presentation to Audit and Risk Committee and / or Council.
  • Attending and conducting exit meetings under the guidance of the Director of Internal for your own work as well as attending and overseeing the exit meetings of the internal auditor (where relevant).

You will be based in central London with no requirement to travel.

Profile

As the successful candidate, you will be a qualified internal auditor with prior experience of working in a higher education institution. You will have knowledge of audits unique to higher education, such as funding and research audits, alongside broader operational audits (HR, Marketing, IT etc.). You will be available to start a fixed term contract in early October, and flexible to work full time for 12 months. You will be a good communicator with prior knowledge of the relevant higher education field in order to hit the ground running.
