Our partner is an innovative human rights organisation, working in conflict and post-conflict zones. They are seeking an experienced Head of Finance & Administration to oversee the integrity of their accounting, play a central role in planning & forecasting and grants management & reporting, and provide operational oversight.

Responsibilities

  • Review, strengthen and maintain appropriate internal controls, and financial and administrative procedures & controls.
  • Oversee the day-to-day accounting, including the accuracy of accounting records, maintaining the chart of accounts, and monitoring the security of the organisation’s assets.
  • Lead on the production of the monthly and annual financial statements, preparing on the annual audit, and on ensuring that regulatory & audit requirements are met.
  • Lead on the preparation of the annual budget, budget analysis and reports, and support in the preparation of budgets for proposals/grants.
  • Responsible for grants management, compliance & reporting; this includes oversight of the fundraising and programmes teams, and ensuring that they understand grant agreements, and comply to grant requirements.
  • Oversee the HR function, ensuring best practice and developing a positive work culture, and oversight of payroll.
  • Oversight of the legal function, including all agreements with external stakeholders, and ensuring that the organisation is complying with all applicable rules & regulations in the territories it operates in.
  • Lead the facilities, logistics, travel & security, procurement & other administrative functions.
  • Lead on the IT function, working with the IT staff to develop and implement new processes and systems, as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree essential, and an accounting qualification or MBA strongly desired.
  • Experienced senior finance professional with at least 10-15 years of experience of finance, operations in a managerial role.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop controls, processes & systems; demonstrated experience in analysing complex financial information to support in managing cashflow and decision making within an international organisation.
  • A track record in not-for-profit grants management, particularly in the areas of financial reporting and compliance desirable, and solid understanding of contracts management and compliance.
  • Experience of HR management.
  • Demonstrated experience of working with IT staff to develop and implement new processes and systems.
  • Flexible, able to manage a varied workload, work well under pressure.
  • Sensitive to working in complex & fragile states, and to other people’s behaviour, able to influence people.
