BBC Studios is a global creative powerhouse for the development, production and distribution of bold, British content. We produce over 2,500 hours of content per year, have offices in 22 markets globally, including seven production bases in the UK and production bases and partnerships in a further nine countries around the world. The business generates revenue of £1.4bn, returning around £200m profit to BBC Public Service each year. In the UK, BBC Studios enables audiences to enjoy their favourite BBC programmes and brands outside the licence fee-funded window on alternative platforms, through a range of partnerships, and in multiple formats, from products and magazines to events and experiences.

We are seeking two Financial Accountants to directly support the Financial Accounting Manager on a 12month FTC. The roles will assist with statutory and other external reporting requirements, answering technical queries from the business, review, and analysis of month-end reconciliations, as well as other ad hoc tasks. You will play a pivotal part in supporting BBCS Finance Teams to achieve strong technical accuracy and meet reporting deadlines. It will require keeping abreast of changes in accounting standards to assist the wider BBCS finance community on both ongoing and complex accounting issues that may arise.

The Finance team looks after group internal and external reporting, planning, and analysis. This includes statutory and other external reporting requirements and ensuring the Group complies with generally accepted accounting standards and practices.

Role Responsibility

You will be the main point of contact for technical queries across the business and play a key role in the maintenance of the Group's foreign exchange hedging program.

Responsibility for reporting on intercompany, consolidation including equity accounting, and elimination entries. Review and analysis of month-end reconciliations.

Prepare parent company accounts and coordinate submission of BBCSD Group year-end figures to the BBC Group Finance team, liaising with the business and key stakeholders to ensure reporting deadlines are met.

Provide training to the wider finance community and support with other ad hoc work as may be requested by the manager as well as other members of the Financial Accounting and wider Group Finance teams.

Build and develop strong relationships with key business and finance stakeholders to cultivate a collaborative working environment.

The Ideal Candidate

At BBC Studios, we seek people who are passionate about who we are and what we do.
  • Awareness of current and prospective technical accounting and reporting requirements under both IFRS and FRS 101/102 and the ability to apply these requirements in a pragmatic and commercial manner
  • Solid understanding of consolidation principles in an international group, including an awareness of the impact of foreign exchange on trading performance
  • Proficiency in working with and preparing primary statements from source data including a good understanding of how to prepare a cash flow statement
  • Good spreadsheet and IT skills (prior experience of using S4 Hana/BPC would be an advantage, but training will be given as required)
