Job Description

The Director, G&A Financial Planning & Analysis is a key member of Vertex's Financial Planning & Analysis organization.The role partners closely with members of the executive team to provide financial direction and strategic insights to enable delivery against short term and long-term goals, including identification of key value drivers and Business KPIs. The Director leads a team of finance business partners to provide strategic decision support, influencing decisions and identifying opportunities to invest, save costs and mitigate risks on a global basis.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Builds and manages a high-performing Finance team that meets increasing needs and requirements across the business and helps drive the overall organization forward.
  • Develops and coaches team members to encourage growth and new opportunities.
  • Partners with executive team members to lead the annual budget, monthly forecasting, and long-range planning process for G&A functions.
  • Collaborates with International leaders to analyze trends and develop accurate forecasts, with full transparency on any judgments about risks and opportunities.
  • Monitors/reports ongoing business performance against budgets/forecasts and works with business partners to understand and identify reasons for variances.
  • Builds analytics and transparent reporting to drive forecast accuracy.
  • Leads the monthly / quarterly accounting close for expenses and accruals, including compliance with SOX control requirements.
  • Develops innovative solutions to support business-case-based decision making for investments.
  • Partners with Human Resources on Headcount reporting, forecasting, and planning.
  • Coordinates with other members of the CFO organization including Corporate Finance, International Finance and Accounting to maintain a continuous improvement mindset and promote strong communication and efficient processes.

Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting required.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in a finance managerial role demonstrating strong technical and analytical skills and a track record of success working in a team-based environment or the equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
  • Expertise with Excel and PowerPoint; Knowledge of Hyperion.
  • Ability to lead and drive change in a developing business environment, coordinating processes involving large numbers of people, complex systems, and tight deadlines across multiple time zones.
  • Demonstrated experience building/developing/leading a high performing team.
  • Strong business acumen and judgment, and knowledge of the company's markets/products and industry trends.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and an eagerness to collaborate with colleagues (within or outside of finance) in sharing insights and learnings and partnering to ensure timely execution of project plans.
  • Possesses a continuous improvement mindset, with flexibility and ability to adapt to change.
