ABOUT LSC:
Established by Congress in 1974, the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) is the country's single largest funder of civil legal aid for low-income Americans. LSC currently funds 132 independent nonprofit legal aid organizations with more than 800 offices throughout the nation. LSC's mission is to promote equal access to justice and provide grants for high-quality civil legal assistance to low-income Americans.
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis ("Director") is responsible for performing the annual and long-term financial budgeting and forecasting across the organization. The primary responsibilities include budgeting, long-term financial planning, strategic business assessments, management reporting, budget and performance analysis, and cash forecasting. The position works closely with the Director of Financial Services to coordinate financial analysis and reporting. Reports to the Chief Financial Officer. The position is located in Washington, DC, but will be performed remotely until the pandemic subsides.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops an effective, efficient, and customer-oriented budgeting process and financial forecasting models that will help improve forecasting accuracy, accountability, and transparency. Works with management teams across the organization to transform the budgeting and periodic forecasting process. Trains managers on budgeting and forecasting process. Leads LSC's annual budget process and collaborates with senior leadership and other departments to promote financial discipline across the organization. Works in consultation with LSC's Officers and Directors for approval of the budget by the President and the Board. Performs budget and performance variance analysis to provide detailed insight and recommendations on financial performance, focusing on trends and analyzing variances. Analysis includes year-over-year and monthly budget to actual analysis. Prepares monthly financial reporting package for management and the Board. Acts as a business partner to LSC managers. Provides decision support in alignment with annual office plans, including performing value-added ad-hoc analyses that help drive decision making. Reviews reporting monthly with office directors to assist with budget management and improve spending projections for forecasting. Performs monthly cash forecasting for all grant programs. Assists with the annual audit of LSC, as well as preparation of IRS Form 990 and other required filings. Prepares variance to budget and other analytical reviews for annual audit. Develops and implements new policies, procedures and features to enhance the workflow of OFAS. Manages the Office of Financial and Administrative Services' procurement functions and collaborates with the Office of Legal Affairs to implement an efficient and effective procurement process. Develops and designs presentations, primarily in PowerPoint, that advance key business objectives and presents the data through concise and well-organized slides. Provides board reporting with key highlights from the quarter, near-term priorities, and metrics. Promotes inclusiveness and diversity within LSC. Manages staff responsible for performing budgeting, forecasting, and procurement functions. Coordinates personnel matters with the Office of Human Resources, including recruiting and hiring employees, onboarding, professional development and training, designation of work assignments, review of performance plans, and implementation of performance evaluations. Assures that LSC's personnel policies are consistently applied to their staff. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Technical/Specialized:
A bachelor's degree in Accounting, finance or business and a minimum of ten years of experience in financial planning and analysis. CPA candidate preferred. Experience building and maintaining financial planning, analysis, reporting and forecasting models and processes to facilitate organizational decision making in a non-profit organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and databases. NetSuite experience preferred. Supervisory experience preferred.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Salary: $137,934
Salary range: $137,934 - $150,801
LSC has a competitive market-based salary structure that establishes a specific salary range for this position. The salary range has eight pay levels separated by seven steps. A new employee will be hired at Step 1 and must wait two years to advance to each of the next three steps (Steps 2 through 4), and one year to advance to each of the next four steps (Steps 5 through 8).
