This role is a member of the Finance team, supporting financial operations for the Global Securities Business, which is part of Northern Trust’s Capital Markets group. The candidate will assist in all functions of the Finance Team. This team member works directly with the unit’s CFO and interfaces regularly with the other functional areas of the business, including the Trade Desk, Trade Operations, Account Operations, Technology, and Compliance.

Major Duties

  1. Extensive involvement in day-to-day financial processes and month-end close accounting routines, including preparing financial entries.
  2. Assist in preparation of Management Reports, including identifying and researching variances.
  3. Evaluate Business Unit’s financial processes to recommend enhancements for operating efficiency; develop and implement process improvements.
  4. Develop strong relationships and coordinates with other functions in the Global Securities Business and Capital Markets, as well as, other divisions within Northern Trust, such a Sales, Corporate Accounting, Audit, Tax, and Compliance.
  5. Participates in special projects, including planning development and performing testing of Management Reporting systems.

Knowledge/Skills

  1. Relevant financial and accounting background. 
  2. Highly detail oriented.
  3. Strong sense of accountability. 
  4. Good problem solving abilities
  5. Able to create spreadsheets to analyze data and perform financial analysis
  6. Comfortable working with large amounts of data.
  7. Ability to handle multiple responsibilities/projects.
  8. Excel: Advanced skills.
  9. Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong relationship building skills.

Experience Required: 1-5 years relevant experience and should possess a relevant degree.
