Reporting to Senior Finance Manager

In a nutshell

This role will proactively business partner with the Brand and food commercial leadership teams, providing insightful analysis, challenge and influence to drive decisions and actions that improve the bottom line. The job holder will provide support and challenge, working cross-functionally with business Stakeholders to deliver the Brand performance analysis and drive the Food First programme. The job holder will support in the tracking and delivery of financial benefits.

What you need to do Act as key Finance Business Partner for the Brand team interpreting management reporting to provide insight, analysis and commentary to stakeholders and providing challenge to the business Lead the understanding and tracking of the Brand elements of the Food First strategy as well as the impact on wider Gross Profit performance. Hold the business to account for P&L performance, identifying areas for value creation and building action plans that are put into place Develop cross-functional working relationships with Brand, the Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability, Investor Relations, Business Unit finance teams and Commercial Strategy Ensure close alignment between multiple stakeholders by delivering clear and robust analysis in a timely manner in line with initiatives and plans across the business Support the business in identifying risks, anomalies and opportunities. Take the lead in prioritising these and work with the business to manage them Develop a robust budget and planning framework that sets realistic but challenging targets and deliver the key messages to a variety of stakeholders Ownership of Central Costs for Brand, ensuring best in class reporting and variance analysis and to identify and facilitate initiatives to further develop understanding of budget make-up and subsequent performance Attend regular department meetings ensuring Finance has a 'voice' and a 'seat at the table' where P&L impact meets department initiatives Complete ad hoc / bespokeanalysis and reportingfor the business area as required to drive improvements Support the design of management reporting, ensuring it is fit for purpose, streamlined and aligns to that prepared for the other commercial areas Work with our Finance Transformation and data team (ADA) to ensure analytical resource is used effectively and business priorities and resource allocation are well understood and aligned Stepping up to cover the Senior Finance Manager where needed Supporting several ad hoc projects and various teams as required during busy times such as Budget, Corporate Plan etc. Success in this role will mean being able to deliver timely, robust and accurate analysis; translating data into valuable business insight, communicating all relevant financial and non-financial information when needed

What you need to know and show Professionally Qualified Accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) Strong commercial acumen with a focus on driving excellent financial and commercial performance A proven track record of financial control, but also the ability to develop and maintain such an environment Effective communicator, influencer and challenger with senior stakeholders, including audiences of varying financial and commercial acumen An ability to inspire and a desire to support colleagues with their development Strong Excel and numerical skills, with an aptitude for turning data into analysis and insight High levels of pace, energy and resilience A self-starter, and a strong team player that can work independently, spotting the areas to focus on and assisting in the decision-making process Must have a strong eye for detail and a passion for accuracy Comfortable working with ambiguity and ability to present complex information in a simplified manner Proven history of effective prioritisation and ability to push back when appropriate Committed to driving change and comfortable with managing any associated conflicts

Directly or indirectly manages Indirect management of a C4 Central Trading Finance Analyst

Support we will provide Appropriate ad hoc support from Senior Finance Manager as well as the wider Food Trading Finance Leadership team. Access to CPD and on the job training Training both on the Job and via L&D offer including; face to face sessions and online

To be successfully shortlisted for this role:

You must have 2-3 years experience within the retail or FMCG industry You must have worked within a commercial finance role for at least 18 months You must be qualified accountant - ACA/ACCA/CIMA You must have managed senior stakeholders across finance and other sectors across the business.
