This position is based in the outback town of Roxby Downs, which offers a relaxed outback lifestyle without compromising on access to services and facilities. Reporting to the Group Manager Corporate Services Executive, your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
  • Effective delivery of the day-to-day financial operations including various journals and reconciliations.
  • Provision of detailed financial analysis and reporting including statutory reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of the Annual Business Plan and Long-Term Financial Plan.
  • Preparation of annual financial statements and budgets including quarterly reviews.
  • Complete year end calculations and reconciliations within agreed timeframe.
  • Providing excellent level of customer service and support across the Council teams and senior management.
  • Maintaining detailed records to meet audit requirements and ensure compliance.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • CA/CPA/IPA with a tertiary qualification in accounting and finance.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a Government environment.
  • Sound understanding of Australian Accounting Standards.
  • Excellent financial systems experience including MS Office and Advanced Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong analysis skills.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • A positive approach to continuous improvement and shared best practice, specifically around financial systems and processes.
Candidates with prior experience in Local Government, with an understanding of relevant Council legislation and policies will be viewed favourably.
