The opportunity

We have a new opportunity for a permanent Business Analyst, Business Intelligence (BI) to join our Business Finance team located in our Macquarie Park office.

You will work collaboratively with our Finance Systems, FP&A, IT BI team and a range of internal and external stakeholders. The core focus of the role will be to elicit valuable use cases for data and analytics and map out the business requirements and translate those to the technical teams. This leads to the development and delivery of optimal technical solution for metrics, reporting, operational analytic models as well as optimising financial systems.

Day to day, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Understanding and supporting the management reporting for the region, including operating results and partner performance metrics;
  • Stakeholder engagement and requirements gathering in an agile environment (change requests and new development requests), for functional and non-functional requirements;
  • Leading stakeholder engagement sessions and workshops;
  • Ensuring alignment with global standards and processes;
  • Translation of business problems into analytic questions and ensuring the technical teams understand the business drivers and are able to deliver an appropriate technical solution;
  • Verifying testing output, ensuring it meets the requirements of the business;
  • Assisting in the documentation of solutions;
  • Developing user documentation and training material;
  • Identifying opportunities to improve analytics capabilities and improving processes and performance;
  • Backlog management and prioritisation.


Skills, experience and qualifications

To be successful in this role you will have:
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, information systems or related discipline;
  • 5+ years' experience as a business analyst with sound understanding of the concepts of business intelligence including data warehousing. We will also consider candidates with more or less experience;
  • Experience with standard Business Analysis processes, strong Excel skills and experience with Jira would be an advantage;
  • Proven track record of turning complex business problems into a clear set of requirements that can be understood by technical and business users;
  • Familiar with BI systems and reporting, ideally SSRS and SAP Business Objects;
  • Legal (or professional) services experience will be highly regarded as will exposure to Aderant Expert and Intapp Open;
  • Understanding of the software development life cycle (SDLC);
  • Ability to analyse ideas and concepts and make recommendations to the business;
  • Strong understanding of traditional and modern data warehousing and information delivery processes and the ability to recognise business opportunities to leverage those assets.

The Business finance team works closely with management, practices, partners and business services teams to assist in driving its strategy, profitability, cash flow and growth.

The team ensures an adequate financial control framework is maintained to safeguard the integrity of the firm's finances and plays a key role in mitigating financial and business risks. The team provides robust financial information internally and externally to enable decision making, effective operations and to help the firm meet its clients' needs and statutory requirements.

As a member of the Business finance team, whether you are in core finance, taxation, treasury or projects, you'll play a critical role in the firm's success.
