Job Description

The Senior Tax Accountant is responsible for managing the tax affairs and compliance obligations for Acciona Energy Group in Australia and analysing future projects and acquisitions (local and international - South East Asia). This role is based at Acciona Energy Group's head office in Melbourne and reports to the Regional Tax Manager (South East Asia) and CFO of the Energy division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and review income tax returns for the Acciona Energy division
  • Prepare and review tax effect accounting calculations and journals (quarterly) and financial statements (annually)
  • Prepare and review monthly Business Activity Statements and Installment Activity Statements.
  • Prepare and review Fringe Benefits Tax returns
  • Transfer pricing and related compliance, monitoring pricing and methodology of international related party transactions, local files, documentation
  • Prepare thin capitalisation calculations and monitoring of safe harbour/ALDT
  • Ensure periodic tax calculations and lodgements are entered in SAP tax tool
  • Assist in meeting requests for information by the ATO e.g. risk reviews and audits
  • Monitor R&D tax incentive claims and reviews
  • Work closely with Acciona Energy's finance team and provide advice to departments within the Energy division
  • Develop tax governance policies and procedures and assist in the preparation of Acciona Australia's tax transparency report
  • Assist with tax review on M&A activity as it arises, acquisition due diligence, divestments, and review of new projects


Required Skills and Competencies
  • Tertiary Qualifications in Accounting/ Business/ Finance
  • Completed CA/CPA or Master of Tax
  • 5+ years of tax experience gained in a professional accounting firm and/or international foreign parent company
  • Strong knowledge of accounting concepts
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills
