The Role:

Blackstone is seeking an Analyst/Associate in the Business Finance team based in the Sydney Office. Reporting to the Head of Business Finance for Asia-Pacific in Hong Kong, the candidate will be responsible for working closely with the Real Estate, Private Equity and Tactical Opportunities Groups' acquisition, asset management, finance and other support teams on deal execution, reporting, and financial operations and management. The candidate will primarily be focused on Australia and New Zealand investments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with the acquisitions and asset management teams on deal execution support, deal onboarding, and post-closing deal management
  • Review transaction documents for acquisition and disposition activities
  • Work closely with various teams across Asia and New York on funding coordination (line of credit, capital call, distributions)
  • Review funds flow files for funding, repatriations, and distributions
  • Responsible for monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting tasks such as reviewing monthly management accounts of SPVs, quarterly distribution / cash analysis, valuations (NAV / NAV bridge), annual financial statements and tax reporting packs
  • Liaise and coordinate on audits with service providers and auditors
  • Work closely with Blackstone's various platform companies and JV partners
  • Involvement in proposals on delegation of authority, cash management and financial reporting framework for new deals
  • Ah hoc tasks, analyses and projects as and when required


Skills:
  • Chartered Accountant with 4-6 years of experience, ideally including time in a Big Four accounting firm or financial institution. Experience with transactions advisory / execution support is a must
  • Experience in the funds, asset management or private equity industries highly regarded
  • Effective communication across various functions and offices globally and hence possessing excellent interpersonal and communication skills in verbal and written English is a must
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with fast and exact data processing skills
  • Highly professional/institutional and self-motivated candidate, able to effectively work as an individual contributor and possess strong analytical, problem-solving, critical thinking skills, and able to multitask and deliver under tight deadlines
  • A desire to work in an international team environment requiring global coordination between offices, often under pressure and with multiple stakeholders
  • Quick learner with the ability to quickly turnaround ad-hoc requests in a fast-paced environment
  • Must operate with the highest level of integrity and professional conduct
