The University of Strathclyde is seeking a Financial Accountant who will play a crucial role in the financial management of the University, in line with its overall strategy.
The Finance Directorate is responsible for over £330 million of income and expenditure annually, represented by in excess of 150,000 transactions annually, with around 7,500 staff and students having access to our Finance systems to initiate, review and approve financial transactions and reports.
A qualified accountant, you will have substantial experience in a financial accounting or audit role in a large complex organisation and, preferably will also have experience in a taxation and/or treasury role.
Playing a key role in the provision of financial information, you will be comfortable with technical accounting requirements and will be able to adapt to changes in regulatory requirements.
You will have a key role in financial reporting matters, including monthly management, annual and statutory accounts, and will be responsible for treasury management and insurance within the University.
In addition, it may be necessary for you to support the University's UK direct and indirect tax compliance.
You should be educated to degree level with membership of a recognised accounting professional body and have extensive post-qualification experience. A strong financial management and accounting background in a large organisation is essential.
Enthusiasm, commitment, and strong collaborative interpersonal skills coupled with a high level of problem-solving and decision making will make the role a success.
