Reporting into the Managing Director you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the finance function across all aspects. This role is pivotal in the projected and strategic financial growth of the company.
SME growing retail business
⎯ Prepare month-end management accounts, providing concise and accurate information to the senior management team to advise and make strategic decisions.
⎯ Manage reporting suite primarily from Microsoft Business Central and Power BI systems, collecting data, analysing and investigating variances, and summarising data, information and trends.
⎯ Comply with statutory filing requirements, prepare and file quarterly VAT for both UK and International markets.
⎯ Where required, assist auditors in completion and filing of financial year end accounts.
⎯ Keep up to date with current and upcoming financial regulations and accepted practices. ⎯ Understand core operational processes in order to advise on best financial practice.
⎯ Management of cash flow, overseeing credit control, to include setting and monitoring of credit limits.
⎯ Resolve creditor and debtor queries, including raising purchase orders and credit notes where relevant.
⎯ Track exchange gains and losses on foreign currency payments.
⎯ Multi-currency bank reconciliations, resolving all queries in a timely and efficient manner.
⎯ Maintain and develop best financial practice and processes to optimise efficiency and transparency.
⎯ Work with Managing Director to prepare annual company budgets; re-assess budgets against forecasts and prepare any project specific budgets, forecasts or cashflows required.
⎯ Monitor product margin, ensuring that commercial decisions deliver targeted profit.
⎯ Manage Payroll and Commission payments, liaising with external payroll processor to ensure timely and accurate payments. Maintain associated records and end of year procedures, both internally and statutory.
⎯ Ensure all transactions on Business Central are reconciled; assist in detecting system and process errors, and implement ways of eliminating.
⎯ Maintain effective communication with key suppliers to ensure optimum payment terms are obtained and their support is maximised.
⎯ Advise on the selection of auditors, bankers, investment managers, insurers, financial systems vendors and other financial and administrative advisors and contractors as required.
⎯ Lead and motivate a small team, providing cover when required.
⎯ Be visible within the business as a member of the senior management team. ⎯ Embrace change, and find creative solutions to financial challenges as the business continues to grow.
⎯ Perform other related duties, as required.
Qualfied accountant (cima, aca, acca).
Proven track record of taking ownership of a finance function.
Strong systems and excell skills.
Experience of KPI monitoring and reporting.
Excellent organisational skills, able to meet deadlines.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
Analyse performance and trends to support and drive correct forecasting.
Can prioritise tasks especially when under pressure and set expectations accordingly.
