Under the direction of the Research Services Program Director, the Grants and Contracts Manager is responsible for the financial activities of the trial research unit of the Department of Neurology. S/he will be responsible for revenue earned from all clinical trial activities and the allocation of these funds in collaboration with others. This includes research grants, contracting, budgeting, invoicing, patient billing, personnel and all post-award activities related to clinical trial research. S/he will also have supervisory responsibilities for the department clinical research finance specialists. The position is located at the University of Colorado - Anschutz Medical Campus . Hours will be dependent on business need (i.e., clinical research unit operational and workforce needs). Examples of Work Performed
  • Serve as the lead and subject matter expert for all clinical trial grant and contract finance activities for the complying with department, university and external constituents' policies and procedures in frequent collaboration with the Clinical Research Services Director.
  • Responsible for reporting, analysis, interpretation, and department communication of clinical trial finances and creation of meaningful reports to include monthly sub-specialty finance reports to Clinical Research Services Director, PIs, DFA, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop, implement, and evolve clinical trial research study projections and present savings and productivity reports to the Clinical Research Services Director and other constituents.
  • Ensure appropriate financial controls and fiduciary stewardship for the clinical research unit determining areas vulnerable from an audit perspective and develop plans, recommendations, policies and procedures to the Clinical Research Services Director to strengthen those areas
  • Review and administration of all clinical trial budgeting, purchasing, reimbursements, invoicing, reconciling for accuracy, compliance, and timeliness adhering to department, university, and external stakeholders' policies and processes. This can include resolving discrepancies, PETs, journal entries, transferring clinical trial finance residual balances, updating clinical research finance databases and documents.
  • Oversee all research patient billing.
  • Manage a database tracking system for the electronic filing of all patient billing.
  • Assist faculty with budget analysis on all clinical trial grant accounts to ensure that each account is spent according to budget proposal - alert faculty if there are any discrepancies.
  • Development and maintain clinical trial research finance resources (i.e, statement of fees) and training materials. Position will be responsible for facilitating webinars and trainings sessions related to clinical trial research finances.
  • Serve as a clinical trial finance subject matter expert during the creation, implementation, and closing of clinical trials.
Additional Duties:
  • Become a subject matter expert in the department database, Neurocraft and Oncore.
  • Manage the process for OnCore implementation creating policies and guidelines.
  • Create and manage a time and effort reporting/protocol acuity scoring tool.
  • Prepare and conduct annual performance evaluations for direct reports.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Principal Professional $ 57,946 - 67,797
Program Manager $ 60,466 - 73,143
The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements
Principal Professional
  • A Bachelor's degree and 2 years of progressively complex experience in finance and administration.
  • 1 year of personnel management experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
Program Manager
  • A Bachelor's degree and 2 years of progressively complex experience in finance and administration in a higher education setting.
  • 2 years of personnel management experience preferably in an academic medical center environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • A relevant master's degree (i.e., finance, accounting)
  • Experience in clinical trial finance and administration in a higher education setting.
  • 3 years of personnel management experience preferably in an academic medical center environment.
  • Previous experience in an academic medical center is preferred.
  • Experience with InfoEd, PS Finance, and Cognos Reporting Systems.
