State Street’s Currency Management team delivers agency-only outsourced currency hedging solutions to institutional investors globally. The team manages over $320bn in hedged assets under management as of May 2021, delivering a range of share-class and portfolio hedging solutions. State Street Global Markets is seeking a senior member to join the Portfolio Management team.

What you will be responsible for

As Currency Management Head of Portfolio Management, MD you will responsible for

  • Day-to-day mandate oversight, trade generation, execution and reporting related to client mandates.
  • Supervise of a team of portfolio management staff.
  • Lead operational decision making, have superior insight into our product offerings, and participate in senior level discussions, internally and with customers, around FX hedging and trading.
  • Candidate will play a key role in the evolution of our technology and the direction of the business.

Education & Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior Currency Overlay experience required with extensive understanding of currency risk and hedging methodologies for institutional asset managers and asset owners.
  • Solid understanding of the factors that lead to tracking error from a hedging perspective and the impact of hedging decisions on that process.
  • 10+ years experience in Portfolio Management or Trading, supervisory experience in Operations with at least 5 years of trading or portfolio management will also be considered.
  • Understanding of Custody, Fund Accounting, and Transfer Agency roles in the delivery of data for the hedging process desired.
  • Relationship and experience trading with counterparty banks in North America, EMEA and APAC.
  • Experience and expertise in trading large volumes in the FX currency Market.
  • Experience in FX Forwards and NDFs are required.
  • Experience in FX options, FX Futures, e-trading, and algorithmic trading desired.
  • Understanding of the regulatory framework surrounding registered UCITS and SICAV funds. Working knowledge of MIFID, Dodd Frank and ASIC.
  • Master’s in Finance, MBA, or CFA strongly preferred.
