Elevation Accountancy & Finance are pleased to be partnering exclusively with a prestigious construction business based in the West Yorkshire region to recruit an Interim Financial Controller for a period of 6 months. This is an interim requirement to provide support throughout a period of internal change. The successful candidate will act as the interim lead on all Financial Accounting and Control within the group finance team and deliver a first-class service to internal stakeholders whilst continuing to develop the function to adapt to an evolving business. Key duties & responsibilities will include:
Line management of 3x financial accountants all of which have direct reports
Supporting the team to develop and progress, including with studying where appropriate
Monthly management accounts
Monthly balance sheets reconciliations
Statutory accounts and tax packs
Cash forecasts and payments
VAT reviews
Actively engage with the wider business, being the key stakeholder for the divisional Finance Business Partners
Acting on feedback from the business to develop the accounting processes and team further, as well as proactively identifying ways to do this
Working closely with Group Finance to manage accounting standards and compliance within the business
Overall ownership of enabling department activities, including the monthly postings as well as reconciliation of balance sheets
Overall ownership of payroll postings, however, elements can be delegated to the Financial Accountants where they are deemed to be less sensitive
Overall ownership of Financial Accounting systems from the FSS, working closely with the wider business to influence and implement developments and improvements
Responsible for the operation and management of the payments processes whether CHAPS, BACS or faster payments including the BACS payment software
Management of the month end cycle
Assist the projects Finance Director in working with other areas of the business, to drive standardisation and automation, as well as driving best practice Skills & Experience Required:
Qualified accountant (ACA/CIMA/ACCA)
Experience in large/mid size businesses and accustomed to working within a matrix environment
Experienced line manager, with multi level line management experience advantageous
