American Training, Inc. is seeking a full-time Senior Staff Accountant in our Andover location. In this role, you will be responsible for all areas for the Homes of Care and Lutheran Creative Living HUD Projects. Additionally, you will assist the Comptroller in monthly closing of General Ledgers.

Who is a great fit for the Senior Staff Accountant position? American Training is looking for people with the following experience and skills:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or educational experience that indicates competency.
  • Three to five years of accounting experience.
  • Knowledge of accounting procedures, particularly those appropriate to non-profit agencies.
  • Experience with HUD, housing authorities with Section 8
  • Bank reconciliation and knowledge of debits and credits
  • Knowledge of accounting software and automated spreadsheet applications.
  • Must be well organized and possess good time management skills.
  • Must be able to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Must be able to prioritize assignments and work under stress.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

  • Assist Comptroller in monthly closing General Ledger journal for:
    • Depreciation Schedule and monthly porting to G/L for HOC’s and LCL
    • Recurring entries posted to G/L
    • Sovereign notes payable (mortgages)
    • Monthly Elan entry and porting to the G/L
    • Prepare and post monthly bank account reconciliations for all Homes of Care accounts, LCL, ATI operating, ATI payroll, and Representative Payee Accounts
  • Yearly AR’s for HUD residents and monthly HUD voucher processing
  • Quarterly reconciliation of ATI’s rent revenue schedule to ensure accurate reporting to each cost center and HUD subsidy received
  • Complete yearly HUD PRACS & HUD AFS submissions on time and accurately
  • Complete HUD MOR’s as requested
  • Maintain recurring rent entries in AT and review monthly aging for outstanding rent receivables
  • Prepare information for annual audit
