What are we looking for?

Due to continuing strong business and growth opportunities, we are looking for a Regional Financial Accountant or Manager to join our team either in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane on an initial fixed-term contract basis for either 6 or 12 months with opportunity to transition to a permanent role.

Your role will include but is not limited to:
  • Preparing monthly financial statements, including balance sheet, income statement, free cash flow statement, budget/forecast variances and other financial reports.
  • Assisting in the timely completion of the statutory financial statements and lodgement.
  • Coordination of the external audit process, annual and interim.
  • Maintaining detailed records and ensuring timely lodgement of ATO and other legislative requirements to avoid failure to lodge penalties.
  • Reviewing statutory returns including GST or equivalent.
  • Monitoring the cash position of the company and reviewing weekly cash flow forecasts, alerting management of any significant variances.
  • Reviewing financial processes for improvements and efficiencies.
  • Coordinating the monthly/quarterly Group reporting responsibilities of the team and liaising directly with Group company personnel.
  • Undertake consolidation accounting of our Unincorporated Joint Ventures.
  • Building relationships with in-house Tax Accountant and assistance in tax effect accounting and other tax related matters, e.g. FBT.
  • Ensuring timely production of statutory accounts and compliance with IFRS accounting standards.


Who are we looking for?

You will have:
  • Degree in Accounting/Finance with recognised professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA or ACMA or equivalent).
  • Extensive experience in a similar Australian Financial background, preferably in a professional services environment.
  • Expert technical capabilities and understanding of local legislative requirements in Australia under IFRS/GAAP to ensure compliance and timely lodgement of ATO and other legislative requirements.
  • Significant experience in preparing, reviewing and analysing local/ regional accounts, trial balances, P&L and Balance Sheet to ensure we maintain sufficient accounting records and the timely completion of the statutory financial statements and other lodgements.
  • Experience in working capital and cash management and demonstrating good relationships with external stakeholders (HSBC, PwC etc.).
  • Exposure to payroll and finance related processes and knowledge of the current industry awards and financial obligations.
  • Sufficient level of local tax understanding to assist our local tax manager.
  • Experience with system integration and reconciliation across multiple systems.
  • Advanced Excel skills and/or other data-based tools.
  • Professional and committed with a continuous improvement mindset, the ability to challenge existing processes, the ability to apply technical skills in a practical and commercial manner.
