The EY Oceania Accounting Operations team, based in Sydney, seeks a Accounting Operations Analyst to support activities of the Accounting Operations Manager. This is a Core Business Activity rather than a client facing role; thus, our clients are internal stakeholders.

Key responsibilities:
  • Manage the firm's external compliance requirements including completion of financial statements and external lodgments.
  • Act as the gatekeeper for all accounting transactions that are transacted to the general ledger.
  • Actively act as the knowledge lead on all business acquisitions made across EY Oceania.
  • Manage the work priorities and quality of work being prepared by the Global Delivery Service (GDS) General Ledger (GL) team.
  • Manage the preparation and actively review all Oceania entity accounts.
  • Confidently provide accounting advice on complex accounting issues to senior leadership.
  • Prepare key financial reports on the firms' results and present your insightful findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Drive the work priorities and continuing education of the team, including identifying areas for process improvements and automation.
  • Participate as an active contributor on ad hoc projects as requested, providing input and insight from a financial perspective.

Skills and attributes for success

To qualify for the role you must have
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Commerce and either a member of Chartered Accountants Australia + New Zealand, the Institute of Chartered Practicing Accountants or equivalent.
  • 4-5 years of experience in a finance function, with general ledger account reconciliation experience.
  • Strong ability to "think outside the box" when solving problems, hard-working with a pro-active, positive and co-operative attitude.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS and key accounting principles
  • Previous experience in managing counselees.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral

Ideally you will have

Partially of fully completed a:
  • University degree in commerce, business, finance or mathematical field.
  • graduate level education and/or
  • professional certification.
  • Intermediate or strong Excel skills with a desire to develop them further and enjoy using the software tool effectively.
