KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

:
  • Provide leadership and strategic direction of branch operations by ensuring efficient operational infrastructure and support services to deliver cost-effective lending, savings, credit administration and teller services to customers
  • Will have overall responsibility for management of Branch based marketing, sales and client service strategy and approach aimed at market penetration and expansion so as to achieve branch objectives and targets
  • Achieve branch profitability and growth in line with agreed objectives through effective branch performance management system
  • Implements the appropriate internal structures; control and regulatory policies; management and decision-making systems, processes, procedures and system compliance
  • Builds and manages an effective and dedicated cross-cultural work team
  • Prepares and submit periodic reports on the branch's operations to the Head Office
  • Represents management at the branch level to ensure that all policies regarding credit delivery and operational issues are strictly followed
  • Assigns to other members of senior management of the branch such powers and duties as he or she may deem advisable.
  • Keeping the Head Office fully informed in a timely manner of the information necessary for it to fulfil its mandate.
  • Serves as a functional link between the Head Office and the branch
  • Ensures branch operations are in compliance with all applicable National Laws of the land
  • Ensures that daily routine of balancing the days accounting transactions and the general cash and calling over entries posted in ledgers is accurately carried out daily
  • Ensures that loans are repaid in accordance with reduction programmes in order to achieve agreed repayment targets
  • Ensures that branch approval limit is strictly adhered to and the appropriate authority duly attests all loans approved at branch level
  • Supervises and supports all the activities of the branch where assistance is needed, oversees the activities of Teller services, savings and deposit mobilisation, new accounts and other operations personnel.
  • Ensures the day to day management of the branch, opening and closing the branch and coordinating available resources (e.g., staff, materials, etc.) for maximum results.
  • Monitors branch office and field oriented expenses to ensure compliance with budget.


  • REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, Administration
  • Other professional qualifications like ACCA, CIM etc
  • Full or part professional banking qualification i.e. AIB an advantage
  • Five (5) years' experience in bank branch management
  • An extensive understanding of the banking environment
  • Conversant with major accounting based software and proficient with Microsoft application suites
  • 3 years or more experience and training in managing and supervising branch operations gained from a service oriented, banking or similar industry background
  • Practical management experience in managing and supervising branch operations
  • Advanced knowledge of the microfinance and banking industry including micro and macro environmental factors and trends, micro finance products and poverty eradication strategies
  • Should exhibit excellent reporting and presentation skills at Managerial level.
