Position Purpose

The Business Analyst within Banking Service Operations will work on projects involving the business and operations, and carry out feasibility studies in conjunction with the business. The successful candidate will support change requests, new products and projects in line with the strategy of BNP Paribas Securities Services. The role will work closely with internal Client Delivery and Product teams in Sydney as well as in the Asia-Pacific region and will require a motivated, results focused person that has excellent analytical and communication skills (both written and verbal). They are effective interpersonally and have a demonstrated capability at dealing with different levels of stakeholders. They are quick learners and are confident to deal with all matters that can be required by projects across Risk, Legal & Compliance, Finance, IT and Operations.

The role will be particularly focused on:
  • Implementation of a new reporting solution
  • Implementation of the Risk and Control model for enhanced regulatory reporting model
  • Scope, define and engage with IT to build automated testing solutions
  • Implementation of business wide governance structure to ensure initiation and sustainability
  • Replication of specific regulatory model to the broader business


Key Responsibilities

Business Analysis

  • Ability to define the business problem or opportunity with respect to the business drivers.
  • Ability to see the 'big picture' to proactively identify additional requirements not explicitly provided
  • Engage stakeholders to establish a common understanding of the business needs and work cohesively with the project team
  • Identify and correctly translate business needs into business requirements
  • Perform detailed analysis to outline problems and opportunities and assist with defining solutions
  • Organise and resolve any conflicting information
  • Prioritise requirements and translate into realistic timelines
  • Ensure any system requirements are consistent with the business need, relating deliverables and acceptance criteria back to the requirements
  • Gather all the necessary inputs and perform comprehensive review to fully understand the requirements, specifications, applicable standards etc.


Organisational & Business Process Design

  • Gain a firm understanding of the impacts on People, Process and Technology.
  • Ensure a common understanding and commitment across stakeholders to all aspects of the project including objectives, scope, risks and benefits
  • Accurately document the as-is and to-be state of the process design


Business Readiness Activities

  • Contribute to the documentation of new business procedures or changes to existing business procedures as a result of the project implementation.
  • Contribute to the update of Risk and Control Matrices, Service Level Agreements and Business Continuity plans.
  • Organising and assisting with UAT


General

  • Appropriately apply the required development and project methodology
  • Comply with audit and security requirements
  • Complete mandatory BNPP training


Competencies (Technical / Behavioural)

Technical

  • 5+ years business analysis experience within the Financial Services Industry
  • Experience in Operating Model design with an understanding of regulatory framework, reporting requirements and related system infrastructure
  • Working knowledge of Custody, Clearing and Treasury functions with awareness of current industry practice
  • Knowledge of project methodology
  • Knowledge of process analysis, design and testing methods
