This newly created position owns accounts receivable and assists with accounts payable for our childcare entities. This position is best suited for someone that excels in a fast–paced, results–oriented, start–up environment and is interested in a long–term career at a company with significant opportunities for advancement.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete journal entries, month end accruals, reconcile general ledger/balance sheet/bank accounts, payroll journal entries (reports provided by HR), and reconcile intercompany balances monthly
  • Prepare on–time, accurate monthly financial statements for multiple entities (balance sheet, profit and loss, etc.) and consolidate subsidiaries under parent entity for consolidated financial statements within 10 days of month–end
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and complete depreciation entries
  • Ensure AR/AP is always kept up to date (complete/assist with payment processing, vendor/client new entries, pay bills, print checks, upload backup to QuickBooks, fill–in when AR/AP Specialist out of office, etc.)
  • Monitor corporate credit cards and bank accounts and investigate any concerns
  • Collect and upload documentation from vendors (W9, insurance, lien waivers, etc.)
  • Complete annual filings and returns (issue 1099s, complete annual sales/use tax returns, and pay S corp taxes)
  • Process year–end accounting functions for multiple entities – provide timely financials to outsourced tax CPA so that CPA may complete tax returns within 6 weeks of year–end and make any entries CPA indicates are required, provide annual financial statements, and coordinate year–end audit (outsourced to CPA firm) for one entity
  • Communicate effectively with vendors and/or clients when Purchasing/AR/AP need assistance or are not available
  • Identify necessary processes and complete process documentation
  • Participate in budget development and ensure adherence to developed budgets
  • Work independently to manage timing and action plans for completing department functions and preparing correspondence, reports and other documents ahead of need
  • Able to handle confidential information in professional manner and has strong understanding of the requirement of discretion inherent in the position
  • Miscellaneous projects as assigned

Qualifications

  • Specific characteristics and background we are looking for are:
  • Bachelor's in Accounting or Finance, MBA preferred
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience
  • CPA – or ability to achieve within 3 months of hire
  • Strong bookkeeping skills in QuickBooks (QBO)
  • Prefer experience with multiple entities, consolidated financials, intercompany transactions, and real estate
  • Professional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (primarily Excel, Word, and PowerPoint) and Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, etc)
  • Flexible, organized, and able to accurately work under time constraints and deadlines while ensuring the "nitty–gritty" is always correct
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and display sound judgement
  • Strong work ethic and a sense of personal responsibility for work outcomes
  • Ability to work with a variety of cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives
  • Valid driver's license
