Redhill

Join this innovative social business as Assistant Financial Controller and bring together your knowledge of tax and financial reporting with your talent for process improvement.

Raven is a business with a clear social purpose: building homes and changing lives in Surrey and Sussex. We aim to be an outstanding provider of homes, a cornerstone of the community and an innovative employer.

As Assistant Financial Controller, you’ll be responsible for all the Group’s operational tax activities and returns, as well leading on production of statutory accounts for subsidiary companies and assisting with production of Raven’s statutory accounts. Your brief will include ensuring that day-to-day accounting entries for our assets and liabilities are properly maintained, and accounting ledgers are fully reconciled and supported with working papers.

Supporting the Head of Financial Control & Transactions – and managing a team of four– it will be a key part of your role to ensure not only that all processes are efficient and effective but also that continuous improvement is embedded in the Finance function’s ‘business as usual’ operations.

We expect you to be CCAB qualified (or equivalent) with good knowledge of tax – particularly VAT, CIS and corporation tax – and a record of successfully implementing finance process efficiencies and improvements. Your experience should span the preparation of financial reporting, including statutory accounts, ideally with exposure to housing development finance and tax, intercompany accounting, and RAM, SUN and Microsoft Dynamics F&O.

Your strong attention to detail, numerical and data analysis skills will be backed by a proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. You should also share our values: earning trust by being open and accountable, listening with an open mind, working collaboratively and caring about making things better.

We support and trust our staff to work as a team and be their best. We offer good salaries and benefits, a great pension scheme, paid holiday and sickness benefit, plus support for further training to develop your skills and career.
