About the role

Reporting to the Corporate Accounting Manager, the Corporate Accounting Operations Specialist (CAOS) joins an experienced team playing a key role in driving the accounting policy agenda. The CAOS will lead the development, preparation and analysis of corporate financial and regulatory reporting and will serve as a SME in corporate accounting policies within the team, coaching and mentoring junior members.

What you will do
  • Administer operating model of the superannuation trustee entity including all statutory and regulatory reporting requirements, internal reporting and month end close activities.
  • Provide expertise and assistance with superannuation activities including superannuation fund launch and inorganic growth activity.
  • Drive the accounting policy agenda and formal documentation of accounting policies and business issues, owning the creation and maintenance of accounting policy procedures.
  • Demonstrates subject matter expertise on the application of accounting standards in order to provide guidance to internal business clients.
  • Maintains broad and consistent knowledge of accounting policy, industry issues, regulatory changes and accounting standards, incorporating changing business needs into support solutions.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders including external audit, Office of the Superannuation Trustee, Financial Controller, CFO and other senior leaders.
  • Partners with senior crew to communicate new standards and rules, and provide insight into the potential impact on Vanguard, to accountants and management.


What we are looking for
  • Relevant undergraduate degree coupled with CA or CPA (or nearing completion)
  • Demonstrated experience in a similar accounting or financial reporting role.
  • Strong process improvement capability in both identification and successful implementation of process re-engineering initiatives
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and drive outcomes.
  • Strong technical competency and ability to coach and mentor more junior team members.

Specialisations that would make an impact
  • Experience within financial services, particularly within superannuation would be highly regarded.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and well-organised
