The Role: Chief Financial Officer, S&P Global Platts

Grade ( relevant for internal applicants only ): 16

The Location: Flexible (preferably co-located with one of Platts' and/or IHS Markit ENR's major leadership hubs)

The Team: The S&P Global Platts Finance team is primarily based in New York and London. The Team also engages with various divisions of S&P Global Corporate Finance.

The Impact: As Chief Financial Officer for Platts, one of S&P Global's divisional businesses, you will report dually to the Platts Division President and to the EVP CFO of Corporate Finance.

As a critical member of the Platts Executive Team, you will drive divisional finance strategy and oversee planning, forecasting, and revenue analysis. You will provide executive decision support and commercial and business partnership. Additionally, you will be responsible for driving financial integration for M&A activity.

As a member of the Corporate Finance Senior Leadership team, you will have the opportunity to influence overall Finance strategy and direction, and you will be responsible for ensuring that divisional finance strategy and operations are in alignment with the overall roadmap for enterprise finance.
This role is a key thought-partner to both to S&P Global's Platts Executive Team and the Corporate Finance Senior Leadership Team, helping to maximize financial performance and the achievement of goals included in the Balanced Scorecard.

What's in it for you: You will be the financial leader and strategist for a leading independent provider of information and benchmark prices for the commodities and energy markets with customers in over 150 countries. If/when the transaction closes with IHS Markit, you will be the financial leader for the combined Platts + IHS Markit's ENR division upon close of the transaction , one of the most prominent data, analytics and thought leadership businesses in the commodity and energy space.
You will lead the business through financial decisions and implementation of its growth strategy, which include mergers and acquisitions and meeting synergy targets. You will become involved in various integration activities to ensure the business remains a transformational business pillar in the S&P Global portfolio. You will cultivate a high-performance culture of client-centrism while fostering disciplined execution and metrics-driven approach to support growth.

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):
S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $218,400 to $499,000. Base salary ranges may vary by geographic location and experience of the candidate. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee Platts' global financial operations while ensure accurate and timely financial reporting across all areas of the business, adapting proactively to the changing macro environment and dynamic opportunities in the global marketplace to deliver on financial targets.
  • Direct the development of the Platts' annual and long-range plans, quarterly forecasts, and monthly revenue estimates; liaise with enterprise FP&A to develop an integrated enterprise plan to help maximize Financial Performance and performance on the Balanced Scorecard.
  • Setting direction for the divisional finance operational model in alignment with the enterprise finance roadmap.
  • Drive strategic projects of material impact on the broader organization on behalf of the Division President; liaise with enterprise Finance teams to source funds and allocate budget for these projects.
  • Direct post-merger activities that can include: identifying potential integration and synergy opportunities, creation of an integrated synergy baseline, building/communicating synergy targets prioritizing integration and synergy initiatives, creating an integration and synergy roadmap, developing financial models to estimate, track and report synergy savings and costs to achieve, executing against integration and synergy initiatives, and measuring progress in alignment with the guidance of the Integration Management Office.
  • Guide the organization to capitalize on strategic opportunities and mitigate threats in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Enhance the level of insight and visibility into the financial performance of the organization, providing data-driven, actionable insights that help facilitate decision making
  • Develop, retain and manage a diverse and high-performing team of finance professionals focused on business partnership activities to support division growth and success through various integration activities
What We're Looking For:
Qualifications:
  • 10+ years in Finance and/or Accounting leadership positions
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA and/or CPA/Chartered Accountant preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to design, drive and pace organizational change and bring others along
  • Demonstrated executive presence and gravitas to own, pushback when needed, and drive divisional strategies from a finance perspective
  • Demonstrated skills in building strategies with a future-thinking mindset and driving change via financial tools
  • Deep understanding of the linkage between Finance and Business Operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a forward thinking - understand linkage between finance and business operations and ability to drive change via financial tools
Critical Experiences:
  • Experience with commercial and sales teams to understand key financial levers, product types, and market drivers with a forward-looking view
  • Experience within the financial services & capital markets sector and/or subscription service business models
  • Experience helping develop the strategic direction of a global organization
  • Experience with managing and tracking large investments ($10M+)
  • Experience with preparing and presenting materials to a Board of Directors
  • Experience with pre-merger M&A activities including target screening, financial analysis (e.g. target screening)
  • Experience with post-merger M&A activities including integration of functions, processes and workforces
  • Held a senior position in a global company with multi-country responsibility and demonstrated cross-cultural effectiveness
  • Risk management experience and development of governance frameworks aligned with the finance function
