Financial Accountant | Burton-on-Trent (flexible working)| £30,000 - £37,000

Macildowie Finance is currently working on a job offering the opportunity to work for a rapidly growing, Private Equity Backed business, based in Burton. The Finance team is responsible for delivering solid financial insight across a group of businesses.

You will be working closely with Senior Financial Accountant; Group Financial Controller & CFO and will be someone who has excellent attention to detail and a hard-working attitude. You will play a key role in the team by providing sound financial and management accounting information, for a £200m t/o group of companies.

So what is the job?
  • Financial Accounts - Consolidation of the group accounts, preparation of statutory accounts under FRS102 and key contributor to managing and completing the audit process.
  • Management Accounts - Month end close processes, including balance sheet reconciliations, journal posting and ownership of overhead and balance sheet variance analysis.
  • Preparation of consolidated management accounts for the group and the individual entities.
  • Preparation of P11d calculations, HMRC reporting for VAT and Corporation Tax.
  • Support delivery of the month end management accounts pack and provide insightful, commercially focused analysis on risks and opportunity
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting requirements to banks, regulatory bodies, and other external stakeholders.
  • Business partnering with internal stakeholders to help manage processes, gather insights, and improve efficiencies.
  • Ad hoc project work including support of ongoing transformation process.

What are you like?
  • Newly Qualified/Finalist/Part Qualified Accountant (ACCA/ACA)
  • Ideally some experience of producing or assisting with Statutory Accounts
  • Advanced Excel analysis skills essential
  • Self-starter with high levels of drive, energy, and willingness to succeed in a fast paced and challenging environment.
  • Up to date accounting technical knowledge (UK GAAP).
  • Strong Excel skills, including data analysis (e.g. pivot tables, lookups).
  • Be highly numerate and analytical with the ability to gather, manipulate and present large quantities of data effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate with and present information effectively to senior management and people of a non-financial background.
  • Strong organisation skills and able to develop and monitor plans to consistently meet agreed deadlines.
  • Commercially aware with a willingness to challenge and critically analyse information

You should have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels. You'll also be someone who loves to be in the detail, with a strong experience ideally in a fast paced environment with strong organisational skills. You will have experience and confidence dealing with internal teams across the business and have the ability to work at pace and remain consistent under pressure. You will be proactive in your approach to work with the ability to identify issues and drive actions quickly.

Salary - £30,000 - £37,000+ Bonus + Benefits
