The Role / Duties

Our client is looking to recruit an Account Handler to join their team in Sussex. You will be dealing with premiums ranging from £5,000 - £50,000 and your role will be providing a quality service to clients/agents in respect of renewal and new business insurance arrangements - advising, arranging and securing appropriate cover based on the clients demands and needs.

Key objectives will include:

• To build and maintain market knowledge to enable appropriate advice to clients/agents.
• Ensure that all activities comply with FSA regulatory and market standards.
• To be accountable and take ownership of the relevant process steps in the Group's and department's process maps.
• To identify broad-banding opportunities and introduce clients/agents to other product managers by communicating and developing relationships with internal departments to enhance the placement of business.
• To build productive relationships with clients/agents to ensure that their demands and needs are fully understood and met.
• To meet divisional and team targets for renewals and new business.
• To identify broad-banding opportunities and introduce clients/agents to other product managers by communicating and developing relationships with internal departments to enhance the placement of business.
• To provide effective day to day servicing of existing clients/agents accounts whilst at the same time maximising company profitability.
• To develop new business opportunities through effective client/agent relationship management.

General Duties / Tasks

• To develop and maintain market/ insurance/legislative and other knowledge in order to effectively advise on any aspect relating to a given risk.
• Taking appropriate credit control action to ensure clients/agents payments are made promptly.
• Take responsibility for own continual professional development and ensure that CPD log is accurate and up to date with clients/agents demands and needs.
• Providing feedback, guidance and support, to the clients/agents and co-ordinate the day to day performance of the account.
• Preparing and sending broking submissions.
• Handling clients/agents demands and needs and risk management enquiries, providing advice and solving problems.
• Handle business on behalf of clients/agents using the most appropriate markets in accordance

The Person

To apply for this role it is essential that the successful candidate has:

• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Negotiation and influencing skills.
• Maintain close working relationships
• Sound knowledge of class of business
• Presentation skills.
• Ability to explain technical information in layman's terms
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of client market

The successful candidate must be self motivated, have a positive mindset, be a good team player, have an excellent attention to deal and be able to work under pressure and to meet deadlines when required.

Qualifications

It is essential that you have GCSE English and Maths and working knowledge of the Insurance Sector.

It is desirable that you are working towards CII qualifications
