Your Opportunity

How often does a newly created position come around where from day one you will be provided with the freedom to create and sculpt the role in-line with your expectations and experience? One where you'll be expected to embrace your entrepreneurial spirit and develop processes, improve systems, and have full ownership from the start? What's more, how often does a position like this come around in a globally recognizable, listed business? It's ok, we'll wait…..

We've partnered with an ever-developing business in the Mining sector to provide them with a resourceful, independent Management Accountant on a permanent basis. They have a strong international presence being part of a wider group, however they've also managed to retain their own local identity. You'll be joining a diverse, multicultural team who work exceptionally hard for each other, and report into a Financial Controller with a vast amount of experience. The FC will be on hand to provide support, guidance and assistance when needed however they're looking for someone who is comfortable taking charge of their own area of finance, who values the trust an employer will place in them, and as such, someone who will relish being afforded a strong level of autonomy. This is an environment where you won't have your hand held all the time or be micromanaged; this is one where you'll have the freedom to create but also be held accountable for delivery.

In this position you will mainly be involved with providing managers with all accurate and detailed relevant information to enable them to make strategic business decisions. The information you provide will be essential to the overall cost control process and will allow all relevant parties to have a thorough understanding of cost as well be capable of delivery on EOM processes. Furthermore, you will use your experience to deliver on monthly management reporting, cashflow forecasts, budgets, forecasts, reconciliations, and journals.

A crucial part of this position is to be responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly reporting for Mine Production; this will also incorporate operating costs analysis, variance analysis and budgets and forecast versus actuals.

As mentioned, this is a newly created role, so to be successful we're looking for someone with ambition and drive, someone who will relish the challenge of creating a strong impression within a large company. In this position you will have regular facetime with senior leadership in the business both locally and abroad, therefore you'll need to be a strong communicator who enjoys taking ownership of their ideas and output. Ideally, you'll be a fully qualified accountant either CA or CPA but we're not adverse to hearing from almost qualified applicants if your experience can demonstrate your suitability for the position. Speaking of experience, you'll find that a background in mining or infrastructure would suit you well as it will help you from the start understand how things flow on site. You'll also possess strong Excel capability and from an ERP perspective, SAP would be highly beneficial.

This is a high-profile position, hence the generous package on offer, which is crucial to the continued growth of the business that also has significant visibility at executive management level. This may be just the opportunity you have been looking for to expand your skill set, enjoy new challenges and forge ahead in your career.
