Kier Group plc is seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our newly created Finance Shared Service Centre (FSSC), located in central Manchester.  The successful candidate will be a member of the Central Services accounting team, who are responsible for reporting within a division comprising of circa £500m of revenues. A strong working relationship will be required with the Commercial and Assistant Accountants across the division as well as Group Services including Group Finance; Tax and Internal Audit.

Overall purpose

To ensure that cashbooks are accurate and up to date together with other reconciliations as appropriate and general support to the Central Finance Team.

Responsibilities:

Manage the Bank Reconciliations for the Business Give support and guidance to the Bank and Cash Team in the FSSC as necessary Costing of managed invoices (eg telephone, hotel expenses) Ensure all management information is reported in a timely and accurate manner Maintain clear and precise records to ensure an adequate audit trail Liaison with customers both internal and external Provide support to the Central Finance Team as necessary Support to the business by assisting with ad-hoc queries and investigative work Continuous improvements to systems and processes in place to ensure best practice Optimum effectiveness and efficiency

Excellent IT Skills, particularly excel Attention to detail Good Communicator Team Worker Persistence and tenacity Adaptable to change Desire to develop finance skills and train (AAT/ACCA/CIMA or similar)
